Can't open Need For Speed most wanted, sign in required

I have bought Need For Speed Most Wanted on steam and can't play it, when I open the game it wants me to activate it using an origins account but when I log in it refuses to work. I tapped "forgot password" and "create account" but "create account" tells me that I'm not connected to the internet and "forgot password" leads me to the EA apps website which I already have downloaded and the game shows up in my games when I open the EA app.

  • @Sphoofs Finally found a solution that worked for me:

    Delete EA License Files:
-Make sure the EA app is closed.
-Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
-Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
-Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
-Delete all files in the "License" folder.
-Relaunch either from EA App or Steam

Hey everyone, as this is an older thread, I will go ahead and close it to avoid necroposting.

Please refer to the accepted solution for further information, and in case you're still running into any issues, please feel free to start a new discussion.

this is worked on my pc too, thank you so much

  • @danisoff

if deleting the license files fixes the issue, then it doesn't seem account related to me.  It seems EA Launcher/License related.  I haven't been able to play Shift 2 for over a year since upgrading from Origin to this new launcher, and my requests to EA for support NEVER got answered.  I submitted 3 tickets, which all auto closed as "completed" without anyone at EA support EVER responding, so I just gave up.

  • Hello @Sphoofs,

If you are still having this issue, then you should talk to EA support. This is account related.

  • I'm having the same issue. Can log into my EA account online, but it doesn't seem to matter whether I start NFSMW from Steam or via the EA app, I'm prompted to log in to an Origin account (same as OP's screenshots). I've tried reinstalling, verifying game files, etc., but nothing seems to help.

Wondering if a server or service on a server went online, and whomever is supposed to maintain it is off for the holidays...

  • I'm having the exact same issue with Shift 2.  My EA account password will not work and and other 2 options are doing exactly the same for me.  Does EA not even test this stuff anymore?
