If the session they or you are in is full ( 6 players ), then you can't join their game. And vise versa. try going to autolog settings when in the garage and set your session to "friends game". Then invite all your friends to join your game. You will only have players that you invite in your session. On the down side, if nobody accepts your invite, you will play with only AI drivers.
