Right and I knew you could do that on previous games. I also understand that once a franchise is created you can't do anything afterwards.
My question was, can you just move a team to a different city during the initial setup of your own franchise without having to create a new team with customized rosters?
The video showed choices on conferences, divisions, games, and etc. It didn't show (or mention) if you could move teams around to different cities. So, I was just wondering if that was something we could do.
Looking through the shallow “deep dive” video… you can move teams to different divisions and conferences… and in the team tab it looks like you can ‘substitute team’ but that means getting rid of that team for a different one… and I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for.
If you mean something like the relocation option in franchise mode… but want to know if we can do that During the set up screen? If that’s what you’re asking… I don’t think that’s going to be possible… they really shot themselves in the foot with this feature… it’s just a new settings menu… hardly a game changing feature… we still can’t control the league like we want to… all we can do is just make the schedule and division alignments, and then we play the awful sim engine and broken features like previous years… and still unable to do an expansion draft mid career….

Yes. This is exactly what I was hoping to do.
This would be my set up, but using all 32 NHL teams.
2 - conferences Campbell and Wales
4 - divisions Smythe, Norris, Adams, and Patrick
8 - teams per division.
I will take the Adams Division for example as this is a division where I would 'move' a couple of teams to -
Montreal
Boston
Buffalo
Ottawa
Quebec Avalanche
'Hartford Hurricanes
Hamilton Blue Jackets or Predators
(The above is all dependent on whether I can alter the city's name or not).
Nashville or Columbus.
- 3 years ago@Blackhawksfan75 I could be wrong… but I am pretty sure the only way to do that is create custom teams/rosters and then use that for your career… I am pretty sure that’s the only way to do it

I believe in previous NHL games that was the only way to bring in new teams. The downside with that method was either you ended up with duplicate rosters on two different teams, picked the scrap heap players from the free agent pool, or create a whole bunch of new players which was very time consuming.
I mean, if you are going to include a mode where the player can (basically) create their own NHL league; why not have the ability to change a team's name or (at the very least) their city?
It is probably wishful thinking, but maybe EA did include that ability, they just didn't mention it in the video due to time constraints.
- 3 years ago@Blackhawksfan75 I don't get the why - but power to you. Straight up moves changing only the city should be available.
