Here is video evidence. Online versus.
My player is in full stride. My opponent is not in proper position to poke check. No penalty.
This happens a ridiculous amount of times a game.
Even when my opponent tries to spam aim assist poke to intercept pucks. Their stick constantly goes through not only my skates / legs but my teammates.
Thanks for the video. The reason there is no trip here is because the poke is on the outside of their leg. In your clip, the poke is made and the carrier then skates through the stick. The next time you take a tripping call, check the replay and you'll see what I mean. It's easier to see than explain. The stick needs to hit the skate on the outgoing poke without it missing and ending up on the outside of the leg.

Did you even look at the video? The stick goes THROUGH the leg. How can you have this much evidence of the game being broken and you still defend stuff like this?

I definitely get that. However, the stick is allowed to clip through objects and legs at times it wouldn't have an effect on the play. For example, you can't have the stick clipping through a player/object and still have it affect the puck. So, regardless of the stick passing through the leg, the same conditions apply to causing a trip.

@EA_Aljo can you please answer these simple questions?
why are sticks going through legs?
why are you trying to defend this like ITS OK that sticks go through legs? The other day it was “oh this only happens because it’s an arcade mode” and now perfect video evidence showing that it doesn’t only happens in arcade modes, and you’re really trying to defend this.
why is this stills happening? It’s 2023 and the main components in HOCKEY are sticks and pucks, and the mechanics in both are highly broken in many ways.
I do see that the defender was unable to make contact with the puck and the puck carrier maintained possession. But often I am left BAFFLED wonder how someone poked a puck away from me and 9/10 times it’s because a stick check goes right through my ghost leg. I do not need to provide any further video evidence seeing someone already had a video on deck to do it for me.
what the community would like is for someone to start providing answer, or better yet SOLUTIONS.

- KlariskraysNHL3 years agoHero+@GizzyGremlin The poke check is on the outside. The game only registers the outgoing poke and not what happens after. So yes the stick eventually goes thru the legs because the stick is in a way non existent until it retracts back.

Does the fact that the puck carrier is McDavid play any role here? Like an X-Factor or high attribute rating that would contribute to not being tripped here?
Because this is pretty wild to see not be a tripping call:

I understand that, but since the leg wasn't hit with the outgoing poke, a trip isn't called. The stick is fully extended by the time the leg is hit so it's not considered part of the outgoing poke.

This is insane. And if it's allowed because "it wouldn't affect the play" doesn't that eliminate any negative consequences of making the poor decision of attempting it in the first place?- bruanor093 years agoSeasoned Veteran
