This is insane. And if it's allowed because "it wouldn't affect the play" doesn't that eliminate any negative consequences of making the poor decision of attempting it in the first place?

There are times the stick will pass through bodies and objects, but it can't affect the puck. In this case, it was the contact between the 2 players that dislodged the puck.
