I actually have found 4 songs from the recent soundtrack that I really life and added to my music library. I always find 2 or 3 songs that I like. You can control your own music... get spotify and play music in the background and mute the NHL soundtrack.
This is what I do as well. I agree each year there's a couple tracks I really like, but normally I turn off the soundtrack shortly after launch and stream some tunes that best fit the mood. Plus, I like having it play during gameplay. Music just adds a lot to the immersion for me even though it's totally unrealistic to have music during gameplay.

I play on a TV, but just connect my gaming headset to my Xbox and PC/phone for streaming music. It works really well. Music is so subjective. Everyone's got a different idea for a soundtrack that helps immerse you in the action.

Only downfall of this unique soundtrack is not having Blink182 - All The Small Things
It's fitting for the Avalanche cover star

I like 3 of the bands (the hives, sum 41, and beck) not those songs though. I don't think I've liked any songs from any of the games since 19. 19 had a handful of tunes and good bands. I have no idea if EA is super handcuffed when choosing music or what goes into this but it's just never a good selection. I'll never know why they just don't go to a real hockey game and just choose music that they play in the venues. It's really that simple.. I'd imagine everyone will just mute the music like every other year..
