If they give one side the option of ending thr experience early, at least gove me something to look at other than the pause menu or a seizure-inducing sync screen.
See I wasn't even thinking about online. It would probably have to be different for that. I was thinking of offline only, specifically franchise.

Oh for sure; There was always a feeling of intensity and atmosphere with older titles, I hope the current changes they're making are just the start
- Bruins0633 years agoRising Hotshot@SummerOfDekes Miss those days with the nbc package and hopefully for nhl 25 we get either tnt or epsn
- @Bruins063 Probably won't happen since the tv deals aren't for very long and if the NHL were to move from one and/or both it would need gutted out meaning a huge time sink. Now if the NHL were to have long deals in place after I could see it becoming a thing, but it would also need those people to be a part of the show to which isn't always easy.
- Bruins0633 years agoRising Hotshot@KlariskraysNHL Well if the nhl plans on doing tv deals the game needs to have that type of presentation cause the presentation we have now with scoreboard is terrible

Until the old-guard is gone and some young blood who actually understands these kinds of things becomes an NHL exec, we're stuck with lame decisions surrounding branding of any sort.

Just a suggestion instead of going down the path of a deal with tnt or espn why not just make your own easn sports network and since nhl 94 has the best music bring that back and revamp it, to sound newer without messing with it to much so it has that espn nhl feel, also have the nhl 97 ps1 video packages style from John Davidson were he would talk about the teams in front of the boards and glass from the arena seating area and describe the team's, and between periods, but instead maybe have nasher and sleeves (from youtube) come aboard from the team who promote the game and have them break down the teams before and between periods? This way it's EA's own espn version, just an opinion.

We like seeing goalie stats or it telling when we're on a big win streak. I don't understand why you can't have the on ice projections flow directly into players skating onto the ice and showing the starting goalies. The pre game presentation was better before the NHL 23. Now it looks like they're taking away our celebrations after a goal and replacing them with a cinematic cutscene. You guys keep replacing things with something that is shorter and less satisfying. It's especially unacceptable now that these games are $70.
"Personally, what I am wondering about though is, do you want a game where everything looks the same as you see on TV? This is just a personal curiosity. For me, I already watch a ton of hockey on TV. I guess I want the game to offer something a bit different that gets me more immersed in an activity that I'll never play out in the real world such as playing hockey on TV, on the NHL level, being a superstar, etc. I already know what it's like to sit on the couch and watch a game. I'm more interested in trying to live out the on-ice action. Adding something like the flex cam amps up that excitement and adds another layer of immersion."
This hits a lot of the nail on the head. Its seen as the same game over and over because each one of our preferred views (however it is we like to play) has stayed the same. Sure we change around each year and see what the others have to offer, but ultimately choose how we each view "NHLxx", which in turn looks a lot like last years version. There may be a lot of different engine and gameplay tweaks under the hood, but if that core all looks the same each year... then really what's different? It's a more realistic version of the "TV mode" you describe.
There are elements in the Be a Pro mode that give a different angle of the game. More of a "From the bench, over the boards and back" view, that thousands of youth & adult recreational players experience each week/weekend, is what we want to see. Put me in that world and now those engine and gameplay tweaks are making THAT experience more realistic. Instead of tracking the player from the TV mode...How does the player track every spot in the arena as they skate up and down the ice? Dynamically. Which means a LOT of data.
Take that Flex Cam idea from both extremes... on one end is zoomed all the way out to "TV mode" and on the other is the view from the players eyes on the ice. Now give us the ability to dynamically zoom the view to any point we each like in between. Some may like it "10 ft above player head to see more of the ice". Some may like the player cam. Some may like seeing all three zones on the screen at the same time. To me that would make things more on par with the current EA line offering game experience champs (Madden/FIFA).It will be a lot of work, but ultimately that's the game we've been hoping for each year since we hopped on board with NHL '93 back on Sega/SNES.
