Re: Hybrid face-off

Oh ok, I thought i might have I heard that using the right stick is the way to win face-offs and I tried that but still had no luck. So is it left then right with the stick when the puck is dropped or right then left? So I assuming buttons have been removed when doing a faceoff then huh? Thanks by the way for the quick replies 😉👍

It's really not just choosing left or right. You choose either forehand or backhand. This can change depending on the handedness of the player. It's generally a good idea to choose the opposite grip than your opponent. If they are using forehand, you should use backhand. You need to select a grip and then use the right counter. For example, if they go forehand, you should go backhand and use the stick lift. If they are always doing the tie up, you should choose either forehand or backhand and win it straight back. There are several options. This tutorial may help.

Wow that is really confusing and hard and sadly the video didn't help either. Just tried and of course no luck. I'm gonna have to settle not running any face-offs. Reading the comments on the video seems as though I'm not the only one that can't pull off winning a face-off. Thanks allot for the help though 🫤

If you're not using to winning them with the right stick, it'll take some getting used to. I never use the Hybrid controls though and the tutorial I mentioned is using either Skill Stick or Total Controls so possibly you want to seek advice from others using Hybrid.

The control you used before (with the X button) were with the nhl94 controls. They are not in the game anymore. Hybrid are the same as Skill Stick apparently.

    For lefty,
    Take a grip:
-Backhand - Hold right on the right stick.
-Forehand - Hold left on the right stick.

Hold your left stick aimed toward one of your teammate:
-On the Backhand grip - Left stick aimed preferably between 6 and 9 Oclock.
-On the Forehand grip - Left stick aimed preferably between 3 and 6 Oclock.

    When the puck drop:
-Push down on the right stick for a straight back
-Push up on the right stick for a stick lift.

These are just basic faceoff but it's a start, practice those first. Then you'll have to learn the tie-up and the multiple counters that come for every type of faceoff.

If you play against AI only, I found that backhand straight back win most of the time with the right timing no matter the grip the AI take. But if you want to make thing spicy lol if the AI take a forehand grip, use the backhand or forehand lift stick.

There's several video on youtube to learn more about it.

Thanks for the guide... It definitely is a learning curve for us hybrid players. I mean I do only play against AI and have also turned all the way down face off difficulty in settings and still can't even come close to touching the puck on the face offs. I'm thinking they almost need a full tutorial for learning the face off procedure in practice mode for us hybrid players that we are now forced to use when doing a face off.

  • I find it doesn’t work winning any faceoff, tried numerous times and I never win a faceoff? It’s annoying that they’ve got rid of the 94 controls as it’s what I’m used to. Gutted

I totally agree 💯 I don't understand with the price paid for the game they wouldn't have the choice of 94 controls or this new faceoff headache.

  • I have the same problem.  Lost 100 faceoffs in a row. I dont understand how to do faceoffs with hybrid control . I regret buying the game. Should have sticked with nhl 22 where everything worked

You can look up faceoff tutorials on YouTube. That will explain how to take faceoffs and which counters to use.
