Franchise Mode Issues

There are a tone of great updates but I have already found a couple of issues that should be patched. Maybe before official release?

1. If you start a Franchise mode with Owner Mode off, sometimes you do not get the option to discuss things with the head coach.

2. The AI of CPU General managers was said to be improved and they are supposed to target players based on team needs. However, I have experience several occasions league-wide, where teams are just dropping their prospects (even though they have tons of roster reserve spots left). Starting a new Franchise mode with a custom roster also does the same thing. If they do not have contract, it is very possible the prospect (created or not) will be dropped regardless of reserve counts.

3. Season Goals and X-Factor goals for players are extremely limited with only a few different X-factors offered and no variety for stats. Maybe this should depend on player type or attributes? Even if it was RNG, it would provide more variation.

4. The trade value of prospects is crazy.  I get offered 4th Round picks for my top 6F prospects constantly. Is it not possible to get these values to be reciprocated properly?

5. The Franchise Hub is fun. But some instances of easy information just isn't there. Such as playoff series counter not seen anywhere during playoffs for your present series. Rather than (last 10 games) wouldn't the current series counter be more relevant?

Curious on EA's thoughts here and if these kinds of fixes are patchable?

  • Difficulty all depends on skill level honestly. It's going to vary. I don't play online because it's all exploits and not fun. Always feels like I don't deserve to lose, then when I win I feel like it was cheese lol. So in that way my skill hasn't really been crazy last few years and have enjoyed the difficulty on Superstar in Franchise. It feels similar to NHL 24 in terms of difficulty. Only AI change I have REALLY noticed is less 10 foot carries by the CPU over the blue line on delayed off sides. Other than that, AI reads feel basically the same

  • How’s the gameplay offline on Superstar? Challenging at all or still a joke?

I think its more difficult. If its not, I would consider going to the sliders and nerf your players a bit.

  • Do you find the game challenging on the hardest difficulty? I’m holding off on buying it until I know it’s worth playing. In the past, I could blow by defensemen on Superstar just by skating straight. I hate it 😑

Honestly the menus are very laggy, it takes a full 3-4 seconds to pull up a coaches preferences the first time. I have a very love/hate relationship with the conversation system. Its cool, but the fact I have to use it FOR EVERYTHING is really annoying. (if you want to have your players work on a specific goal or x-factor. Even talking to the coach to lock a player in a line should be something i can do from a menu. Or quite possibly the Edit Lines screen?

Gameplay is fine, AI still not great. I do really dislike the loud and constant flying duck sound when players are skating. That sound effect was definitely not needed.

After a few years sim, I have not seen the lower ranked teams really get much better.  I still think the CPU GM's are idiots.

I like the new one timers, but to be honest I feel like perfect one timers were already in the game, they just didnt have the big bullseye to tell you right or wrong. Puck speed and things that I see on the perfect one timers in NHL 25, that is the same if i time one timers the right way in NHL 24....

I Still hate the fortnite celly, however you can hit one of the regular celebration buttons the moment the puck goes in and it will do that celebration in stead of the fortnite one.

  • Even with owner mode on, I’ve started 2 franchises where I wasn’t able to talk to my coach until preseason in year 2.

I don’t think the AI GM’s have improved much at all. I saw Vegas trade both Adin Hill and Shea Theodore at the trade deadline despite being first in their division.

That’s a big L on EA’s part. I remember when they touted the AI GM’s improvements and trade value improvements a while back but hardly anything has changed. Same old crappy AI, laggy menus, all the same bugs and more. The coaching issue is hilarious too, they haven’t fixed that despite it being an issue for years and years
