How to learn to play better NHL 25?

Howdy, my fellow NHL 25 players.

I probably just am too old and too slow to be good in this game. 😁 What other than just play as much as I can could I do to get better? Any tips? Currently I get slammed by checks or at least separated from the puck in the same millisecond I have it. Not gonna lie, but in BAP on Semi-Pro level I seldomly have the time to even pass the puck. What do you folks do first when you get the puck? What is the key to not getting hammered and disconnected from the puck in a blink of an eye? Appreciate any tips. But I am aware, that it just might not be my destiny to be good at this. 😎 See you on the glacier anytime and take care.

Good hints, thanks again. I will check the camera, if it could help to change it and also the tip with passing back or to a player in motion could help.

What camera are you using? You may see better passing targets when using Zone or Overhead. You want to make sure you're not passing to a player that's about to get smashed. You also want to try to hit teammates in stride rather than being flatfooted. Don't forget you can pass back as well. Very frequently, I'll be in the NZ and than pass back to a teammate on the far side of the ice. They most likely have more open space to gain your O zone since opposing players are usually focused on the carrier before the pass is made.

Thanks for taking your time to answer me. I might eventually try to record a video. But it is most likely a skill issue. I am still too slow, and I need to get better with passing and dekes. I do a lot of questionable passing after all. Will continue to play a bit every other day while waiting if we get NHL 26 finally on Game Pass. I wont invest too much in playing NHL 25 since it is almost dead online. Thanks again and have a good day.

It would be good to see some video of your play to help figure out what's going on. Normally, if you're getting knocked off the puck right after receiving it, it means you're passing to a player with a lot of coverage. Hitting players with less coverage will give you time and space to move the puck and set up plays. You can also use an appropriate deke to get around defenders.

After a week with some training, I am getting a bit better. 😎 Still as successful as the Preds or the Sabres in the real NHL, but getting things together slowly, but steady. I still get disconnected from the puck asap I have it and getting checked instantly. If anyone of you has a tip, how to prevent this it would help a lot. I mean is there anything else I can do other than L3 and right stick to protect the puck instantly, when I receive it? Any pro tips welcome.
