I feel there’s an issue with player builds. You can create a player with gold X-Factors by having low accuracy and shot power while investing everything into speed, effectively turning them into a cyborg that can do it all. Truculence can be obtained by smaller players as well.
There are also gameplay aspects to consider. The game allows for too much puck control, making it difficult to separate the player from the puck. This certainly gives an advantage to small, fast players, for whom the skill of close quarters is overly powerful. The same goes for the Big Tipper ability—defensemen have few ways to counter moving forwards, and Big Tipper allows players to score cheap goals without needing to find a good position, simply by skating past.
If you had to be big to use Truculence, it would balance that skill and serve as a way to combat those smaller players. Right now, it’s banned in many tournaments.
Many and I mean many of people have asked for the removal of Truculence. I had the opposite of wanting it removed. I wanted it reworked to be more like a tool that gives back energy to you and teammates. When big hits happen in real life the crowd goes wild and that is like a shot of adrenaline so I wanted it to be like an energy type boost. But removing it would be much easier too.
Big Tipper this year isn't so bad as compared to the previous.
As for Closed Quarters I would also like this removed as we have plenty of other abilities that should instead get used. Like Crease Crasher and Make It Snappy
