BAP Form Score

I genuinely pray to god this isn’t a thing in the next game or it’s fixed because this is horrible, I keep retrying the mode hoping somethings different and it just never is… In order to progress you need to have 100+ point seasons to actually get your challenges done, which is completely unrealistic as a 18 year old rookie in the NHL. I don’t want to be the greatest player to ever live every time I play a career mode, it’s so boring and repetitive but that’s the only way to move lines or get playing time…. I need to maintain a 65 form score, my first game I had a primary assist, was plus 1, we won the game 3-0, won a fight, and had hit my target score for the coach feedback in every category….. and it gave me a 59…. That is honestly laughable, it’s unbelievable to me that whoever designed that system believes that is how hockey works, it goes to show how little effort is applied to this game even AFTER “revamping” the entire mode this year. Honestly very sad, because I love playing be a pro and is honestly the only real reason I buy these games anymore (due to them being copy and paste/buggy crap games year after year) this is the first time since NHL 14 where I’ve committed to not buying the next one and that’s purely out of spite for this company. Total money grab with 0 effort or budget applied to it.

  • Sadly, this Hockey game is designed around players that can score on elite Hockey player levels and beyond it's not anything like real Hockey. My idea is adjusting the form score and challenges to fit your position, line you are on overall rating and ice time then once your overall goes up you move up the line and get more ice time the challenges get a little harder but that being said the challenges and form score shouldn't be all based off of just scoring. My other idea is to give us the option to change the form score challenges at the beginning of your career. like when start your career and when they ask you questions if there is an answer like I want to dominate the league in scoring your challenges throughout your career will be based on getting points and your form score would be higher and higher offense grade on coach feedback, if an answer is I want to shut down opposing Elite players and play defense your challenges should be based on blocking shots, hits, and defensive play and a good defense ratings in coach feedback. Then there is the in between answer like I want to be a 2 way forward and your challenges will be mixed between points and good defense.

  • Yep, it’s unbelievable to be this sad excuse for a hockey game, and they won’t do anything because there’s no competition. Absolute joke of a company in EA, but the NHL department must be historically understaffed and under-budgeted. That’s exactly my point- superstar nhl players sometimes don’t average a ppg, it’s absolutely pathetic that a video game based off realism is nowhere near realistic whatsoever.

I went to the NHL.com website to find out when a coach would send a player to the minors and this game has it ALL WRONG. here is a piece of that article. one is a forward and one is a defenseman.

"Filip Chytil, C, New York Rangers
So far: Chytil, 19, has bounced around the Rangers lineup, going from fourth-line center to left wing on the second line, with center Kevin Hayes and right wing Mats Zuccarello. He has two assists in eight games and is scheduled to play his 10th game against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Thursday.
Staying or going: Likely staying. It's a season of development for the Rangers, and the organization needs to see where Chytil fits in their future."

in this EA game it would go like this: 'oh my gosh only 2 assists in 8 games????? form score = 20 for the 8 games. he sucks, send him to the minors'.

    "Rasmus Dahlin, D, Buffalo Sabres
So far: Dahlin, 18, has three points (one goal, two assists) in nine games, and he's averaging 19:03 of ice time, third among Sabres defensemen. He's scheduled to play his 10th game against the Montreal Canadiens at KeyBank Center on Thursday.
Staying or going: Staying. The No. 1 pick of the 2018 NHL Draft has been solid and his offensive game should get better while he continues to adjust to life in the NHL as a teenage defenseman playing his first season in North America."

again it would be the same. this game would send him to the minors because the form score would be around 20 or 30. oh and the part about "has been solid" means his defensive play NOT OFFENSE

there are plenty more. some going but more staying. here is the website I got this from. but EA won't care. if they would do a little research about things like this, maybe they would get a decent game. I still say they need to do a separate game for just offline players (Be A Pro) and an online game for the HUT and Chel players.

yea, you have no idea how many times I replayed a game because of that stupid form score. I really hate losing but I even took a loss because for some miracle I actually got a 100 in a game that I lost. don't ask me how but I did have an assist but usually that kind of game is like a 70 or less. but I took the loss as long as my player did well. I wish they would just get rid of the stupid sliders and go strictly off of attributes and stop gearing everything on scoring (goals, assists, points). that way you have to work to get better but add a training session like in madden to increase your attributes while not in a game. and Kaner1138 is correct about the form score and coaches feedback. they need to change some things in that coaches score too. sick and tired of losing more points than I gain. your in the exact position they want you to be in, guarding your man but they score 1 goal and you lose 7% in defense. then you block 3 shots, poke check 2 times, stay in your position only to get 5% for all of that (usually less). that's bullcrap. that's when I want to throw my controller

And the thing is, which makes little sense, is that Form Score has very little connection to the coach’s feedback if any.

  • I just played another game and same situation hit every coach feedback goal with a surprising A- in the team play because i had 4 hits, and won a fight, I had a primary assist and was even on my +/- and we won 2-1 and I get a 62 when I need to average a 65…. I mean do the people who work on this game not understand the sport they’re basing their game off of?? lol I just sighed and closed the app again….. guess I’m going back for my millionth game of NBA2k my career at least that system makes F-ing sense….

Brother I’m not even going to lie, I haven’t even attempted to make a defence build for this game, simply because I know it wouldn’t be worth my time and the form score would be worse😂 which sucks, in all the other nhl games I would make a forward or d man, but yeah I mean the system is such a POS, I don’t, I’m having a bit of fun simply putting up a point or more per game, but that’s just it, there’s 0 freedom to be less than Connor mcdavid essentially.

  • Sadly, it seems like when they created/designed form score, they decided that actual hockey plays and skill are not viable for how a player should be judged. This is like how they are for their online modes (focus more on scoring then actual hockey plays).

This was one thing they heavy promoted before the launch of the game but instead of offering a true hockey experience (which is what said) they force you to play how they want you to play and actually make some playstyles (which they offer to let you play) completely useless and a deterrent.

Its just another mode/feature they half did and will now leave as is for years to come, cause my guess is that they don't know how to fix it.

you are exactly right. I don't know which position you play but I play defense and every, and I mean EVERY challenge wants me to score points. why would a defensemen need to score 6, yes SIX, points in 8 games to pass a challenge. that should be 6 (or more) hits or 6 blocked shots, or something for a defenseman. and then the form score, it is in fact so bad that I want to throw my controller into the tv. here is a game I just played. as you can see I was +2, had 9 shots on goal, 7 hits, and they did NOT score when my player was on the ice but I only got a 92 for that game!? that is an excellent game for a defenseman but the reason I lost 8 point is because I didn't score a point. yea some will say it's only 8 points but THAT'S NOT THE POINT. that game should have been 100.

you do not have to score a point in a game to get 100 in form score and the target you have to get is so ridiculous it's almost laughable. why would a rookie, who is in the top 5 in points, assists (1rst by the way), and goals (because I have to be to stay in the NHL) have to get a 75 to 80 form score. I believe the highest it should go is 50 to 60. I read in another post a while back that they take into account goals, assists, points, hits, being hit, and a little on coaches score and maybe more but I can't remember. and as far as hits goes, so if I have 7 hits (like this game) and I GET hit 5 times, that means I only get credit for 2 hits? that's freaking stupid. YOUR GOING TO GET HIT IN THIS GAME. and even the coaches score is geared to scoring points. why would an enforcer have to get a target of 65% in offense but only 55 in defense. for crying out loud, I AM A DEFENSEMAN NOT FORWARD.

  • Also the ability that they have to go “we listened to the community” and then not listen to anything the community actually said  and instead put out new packs for HUT is unparalleled. Imagine being confused why your game doesn’t perform well, so you put out more things people have to buy, so you’ll make more money, instead of just making the game playable and have a success of a game that generates way more income…. But idk that’s just me. EA hates the phrase “spend money to make money”
