Fun fact - The song people instantly think of when hearing the word 'circus' (Entrance of the Gladiators), was actually intended to be a serious and inspiring war song, not a joke.
Personally I like the saying "not my circus, not my monkeys". It's funny, I remember one of the cosmetics we could obtain in EASHL bags being a clown
