CHEL computer defense

Please fix the computer defense in CHEL. So many posts about the terrible play of ai defense in chel. Glitch goals galore, momentum on stupid defense giving up turnovers in the zone, getting constantly burned for breakaway glitch goals, terrible decision making scoring on your own goal even if they skate close to the goalie, and crazy uneven match making. So frustrating! Want to play this game and have fun with friends online with our team, but after a few tries same thing happens...we get frustrated yelling at the computer D and a go to another game.

Those aren't really glitch goals though. They are high percentage shots that you're not defending. And that's understandable when you choose to play with AI defenders. They're easy to beat. If you're going to have to use computer D, you'll need to make sure at least one of the forwards are always supporting them.

So why AI defender keep forwarding instead to stay back cover defending  .?... If we set up a strategy  on defense then why keeping plays in front ???? Sick ....

So whats the point of even having defenders in the game if the ai, as you just admitted is so bad that they need a human player to play for them?
They don’t have to be 100% but they should be able to play their position as ai players. Instead they get caught flat footed 9 time out of 10, jump up randomly when theres no need to, rarely hit, don’t poke check, and never pressure the puck carrier.
I get that getting goals is fun, but having bs goals go in because an ai defender isnt coded to play their position properly is crazy.
Might as well only put human controlled players on the ice. If that means a 5 on 3 or something then so be it - that’s basically what it is already playing with ai players.

I really don't have a huge issue with having a human D partner. Yes, I need to play more conservative, but they still help. I'd much rather have one than not. It also helps when your team stays in position. A lot of human players are constantly out of position. That's going to affect where the AI players are. They won't always be in the best position to defend in those cases.

  • So your saying that we need to have a human Defensive partner to be able to play the game efficiently.  What people are actually complaining about is that when the other team starts skating down toward the goal that the AI defensive players often don't do anything.  They skate backwards at slower speeds, they don't get in front of them, stick out their stick, basically they do absolutely nothing.  NHL is supposed to be a simulation of a real hockey game.
It does not take a genius to see that the AI Defensive player is broken.  My squad and I have tried making changes to the AI's stuff but does very little to help.  If I can skate down the ice right past them then the chance of scoring drastically increases.  This game has become the opposite of a simulation.  If i wanted to play the other version where scoring and AI is set to 10 percent brain capacity I would.  How about you take someone from your team off of the market team to stop trying to sell packs and fix the game.  I mean there are things that have been broken for years.  How about you focus on making the gameplay better and more realistic.  This would make it more fun and bring people in.   At this point we are begging.

No. I'm not saying you have to have a human defender. You can have one of the forwards back up the D better. I have also seen plenty of times the D take action, but as you know, they are easy to beat by teams that know what they're doing. You may want to try allowing drop in players to join you.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • To play the game accurately we should be playing the position properly.  Falling back to help a broken system is not a proper simulation.  That is all I was trying to say.  I was asking for someone to try to fix this problem that is obviously a problem for the people that play NHL and would like to continue.

Hopefully, we'll see the AI D improved in the future. For now, your best bet is to allow drop in players on your club.

Game doesn't say it's a true simulation game.  The AI in WoC is only meant to be serviceable at best.  They aren't meant to be gamechangers.  With everyone running super fast builds they are gonna burn your CPU defense because they take off early and zip that puck up fast. If I see an AI defender than I'm 100% going down that side more often than not because you can manipulate them.   I've played 6s where if a human dman drops from a dc or whatever then playing defense with the AI becomes that much more of a challenge because the opponent will take advantage of it.
