NHL 27 | Server Updates are LIVE
Thank you for your feedback and comments regarding NHL 27 server-related issues, including ping and matchmaking. They've been instrumental in making the changes we're detailing here.
Behind the scenes, we've taken that feedback to improve our server networks and matchmaking systems. We want to share those updates with you; they're focused on improving your connectivity, finding more suitable matchups, and making your online games feel more consistent.
- North America East Server Expansion
We've expanded our dedicated server network to improve regional connectivity and provide a better online experience for players in the area.
What's New: A dedicated server location in North America East (NA East) is now fully operational.
How Does This Impact You?
Players in this region should experience lower latency across all dedicated-server online modes, including:
- Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT)
- World of CHEL (WoC)
- Connected Franchise
- Online Versus
- HUT Matchmaking Improvements
We've made some changes to how matchmaking works in HUT Ranked to get players into games that better match their skill level and connection quality.
What's New: Refined algorithms now prioritize closer skill matching and lower-ping thresholds.
How Does This Impact You?
You should be able to find matchups within your skill range more quickly, while also benefiting from a better connection when possible.
- Spend less time waiting in lobbies and more time on the ice.
- Face opponents that more closely match your overall skill level.
- Prioritized routing keeps your competitive gameplay smooth and responsive.
- Online Versus Server Transition
We've also changed how Online Versus-ranked matches are hosted and moved them to a more stable environment.
What's New: Ranked matches have officially transitioned from Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connections to dedicated servers.
How Does This Impact You?
This shift ensures synchronized gameplay and provides better stability for both competitors.
- WoC Matchmaking Changes
We've also heard the feedback about team-size balance in EASHL 3v3 Clubs, and we've adjusted matchmaking to address it.
What's New: Matchmaking now strictly pairs opponent clubs that have the same number of human players as your squad.
How Does This Impact You?
The goal here is to ensure clubs face teams of the same size, creating a more balanced experience and helping reduce lobby backouts.

After these adjustments, we will monitor both data and feedback to ensure they achieve the intended result of improving the quality of your NHL 27 online experience, and we will make further adjustments as necessary.
Once again, we want to say a big thank you to everyone who continues to share feedback and report what you're seeing in-game through the EA SPORTS NHL Feedback Portal, along with other social and community channels. All of your feedback has been incredibly useful in helping us identify where improvements are needed, and we'll continue to keep an eye on how these changes perform now that they're live and available to you.
