@AtishksinghThey did add a bunch but still no Barrasso, Zalapski , Worsley, Maniago, Kamensky or Siltanen just to name a few. Not to say than I'm unhappy with the huge number of additional names this year. But some of these missing names are kind of glaring omissions.
The name “Kaminsky” is available.
That’s the one I used for Kamensky. It’s close enough

Real bummer this option wasn't added in the latest patch. With it being the most wanted request at the moment I thought there was a chance they'd actually add it. Ah well, hopefully in the next patch. Would love to create 70's rosters and share through roster sharing, but this option needs to be in for that to be satisfying.

I truly hope this is not the case, but I’ve been asking for the ability to make helmet-less players for years. I vaguely remember getting a response along the lines of the NHL doesn’t want any players represented without the proper equipment or some other legal mumbo jumbo. This leads me to believe that we may never get what we want.
However, and I don’t play EASHL or any other game modes so I’m not sure if this is the case or not, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read that you have the option of not wearing a helmet in some of those modes.
So, if that’s the case, and we’re making players for offline use only, then I don’t see why we can’t have the option.
- T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran@Efbomb I totally agree. I posted my last three year's worth of literally begging for helmetless players only to be disappointed every year. The Alumni teams are filled with helmetless players so there's no reason we can't create more helmetless players that aren't included with the game (Bobby Orr and Hull to name two). I'm not sure how anyone is getting hurt because they're not wearing a helmet within the virtual game. Sad to say it and I know it's a broken record, but no competition breeds this sort of thing. They don't have to add diddly doo because they're not competing against anyone else. Nothing lasts forever though in the business world without improvement and continued happy customers. Companies need to keep that in mind. Even if competition returns, they'll have lost what could have been loyal and repeat customers because of these and many other items that shouldn't be so tough to add. But, alas, I won't give up my eternal hope. Hello EA? Is anyone there? LOL

If only EA had not fixed the “no helmet” bug from 4 years ago.
If you didn’t know about it, basically all you had to do was add a shield to the old school JOFA helmet, save, then back out. When you started a game the player wasn’t wearing a helmet.
It was glorious! Then EA found out about it and took it away from us.
- 4 years ago@T2HD I gotta feeling we'll get it soon or even for NHL 23
- 4 years ago
@EfbombJust to know the feeling, once every couple months ill just go onto CHEL and play around with the create a player option because you can choose no helmet. Its such a joy inside and put tears in my eyes sometimes using that option.
I'm holding out hope that at the latest the helmetless players create option is included on NHL 23. I would buy a new game system, upgrade the PS4 for that game.
- T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran@Atishksingh I feel thy pain and joy. Given all the huge mods they just deployed we shouldn't have to wait another year though. It's not like they haven't been asked to do this for years now (along with the vintage goalie masks). They already have those items in the game (just not for us). Please please EA add them with the next patch that you still have to do to fix the people in the crowds that are still wearing the Ducks logo on their shirts. Hope hope hope and fingers crossed. Cheers!
- 4 years ago@Atishksingh I do the same but with NHL 19 sometimes. I remember the joy when I discovered the no helmet glitch on that game and I could take the helmet off my created Guy Lafleur. What a feeling it was. Also have helmetless Esposito, Orr and Hull on that game among many others. Sometimes I go back and play a game or two on 19 just to get that true retro feeling once again.
Such a shame that glitch was "fixed". - 4 years ago@SvenArne123 Here's hoping we get that feeling back for NHL 22 or even NHL 23.

Tis the most wonderful time of the year. Hope for Xmas we get a patch for creating helmetless players.
Please. Its Christmas 🎄 ☺
If there's one thing I want for Christmas it's this. Think of the amazing 70's rosters we could create for roster sharing..
- 4 years ago@SvenArne123 I'd make fun TV characters too.
Imagine the social media viral videos we could make.
Hell maybe even get big shows like Spittin Chicklets to play a game with our created versions of them or the Slap Shot characters.
The possibilities are endless - T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran
I'm hoping the helmetless option along with vintage goalie masks are added to the next patch. They still haven't fixed the fans wearing the wrong logos in the stands so I know there's another patch coming. Please, please EA do this! Otherwise you're gonna be on my list of grievances aired tonight at the Festivus celebration. I know you don't want that. 🙂

There's a great original 6 season roster available on PS4 roster sharing. Sadly all the created guys have to wear helmets..
THG is also wanting this option.
- T2HD4 years agoRising Veteran@Atishksingh Love that!! So awesome!! I hope it doesn't fall on deaf ears though. Happy New Year! Hoping 2022 brings us helmetless players and vintage goalie masks for NHL 22 (not NHL 23). They can do it!! I know they can!! They already have helmets being knocked off during fights so the helmetless capability is there for helmetless players.
- 4 years ago@T2HD Would also be nice if we had the option to keep players on the ice after helmets gets knocked off from big hits.
I hate that new rule the NHL put in. - 4 years ago
Keep bumping this.

Ignoring that we've asked for this option for years now only to be disappointed, EA needs to include this option within the next patch just as a token of appreciation to the fans for putting up with the glitches that we've helped them to identify! Same goes for vintage goalie masks! When their HUT store hoses people they do things like give free packs. I think this is more than a reasonable request. Please EA? Helmetless players and vintage goalie masks within CAP should have already been there.
- 4 years ago@T2HD hopefully we can get some info soon about this
- 4 years ago
Going by the last few years there should be a patch coming out this week. Hopefully it contains the helmetless option.
- 4 years ago@SvenArne123 That would be amazing

Not sure when the January patch/update is coming out but it's nearly the end of January (says Captain Obvious). I saw this article today: https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10020388-nhl-22-video-game-to-include-womens-teams-in-new-update-in-january.amp.html
I think it's great that EA is including this within the game. I have only one concern. How are the majority of the purchasers of this game going to feel if this is included in the next update but we aren't given the helmetless option for CAP along with vintage goalie masks? I'll answer that for EA. Disappointed at the level of 11 on a 1 to 10 scale. I am puzzled re: they spend resources adding things to minor league and other teams that nobody asked for when all we're asking for is what is essentially already in the game. We have Alumni players/goalies who are helmetless and have goalies wearing vintage goalie masks. Including that option within CAP should be a no-brainer. As I've said, it's the least they can do given how much time the community has spent helping them debug their game. Please EA. Listen to your customers. Thank you.
