Input lag

Next round – next thing that should not happen.

After another stretch of unplayable laggy games I decided to connect my PS5 over MobilePhone Hotspot.

Shown Ping was around 30 ms … thats 20 more than my normal Ping. I had peaks around 800 ms and the game freezes sometimes

and then plays fast forward, so the connection was not good … it's mobilephone internet so it was expected from my side.

What was not expected is that the game was way more fluid, I can forecheck, I can defend, I can intercept passes.

I won both games after 5 losses by bad connect in a row. If you want videos … no problem. I recorded both games.

That just buts salt in the wounds of those who say ther is no lag/lesser connect compansation.

@Codo37This is true, i tried using VPN and connected to a VPN server far away to introduce latency to the server and the game becomes more fluid, the Fatman lag disappears but it introduce regular lag.

If you can play better on a mobile hotspot, that points to an issue with your ISP. You're on a different network so it's bypassing the one you normally use.

If you're lagging through a mobile hotspot, I would expect to see some packet loss or at least your ping change. The network connection screen only shows the last couple of minutes I believe. Can you get a screenshot of it right after the lag happens?

You'll need to contact the retailer the game was purchased from to see if a refund is available.

Since the game wasn't purchased through our systems, we never captured those funds so we're not able to refund them. This is why only the retailer can grant the refund.

Again, I repeat, can you confirm that there is no lag compensation/balancing system of any kind whatsoever in the code?

This Input lag is such a bad thing. 

It makes people quit playing the game or not play online which is bad for all since the thin player base gets even thinner.

It also creates a lot of unnecessary rages. There is absolutely nothing in my life that can make me feel so raged as when playing this game and you have input delay but the opponent are as agile as can be. I tried to play two games this morning at it was brutal, the animations for my team were in slow motion and the controller felt absolutely broken. My AI was constantly going in the wrong direction. I got mad and shut the game down and did something else instead. Well, guess what, another player less to match up against for the others on Xbox next-gen.

The thing is that i never feel rage losing in any sport or game besides this one. I guess i would feel rage if i were to play a golf tournament and my opponents openly cheated in any way possible and there was nothing i could do about it.

Serious issue I'm finding and probably a lot to do with some routing issues with the server and would explain input delay for me. I'm always matched up against Quebec players down here in NC. I'm always on <20 ms ping search and always connect to the Virginia server. I message my opponents and they're always telling me they are on <5 ms ping and last guy was on 2 ms ping. Why am I connecting to the Virginia server and they are on the Quebec server for the game? This happens all the time it's crazy how unfair of a connection difference it is with their base cards playing like 125 overalls and I'm on input delay for days. Shouldn't we both be connected to the same server? I should be getting way less than 20ms ping to Virginia from my location in NC but that's as low as I ever see. 28 ms to central/columbus which should be less as well from 5 hours away. This just seems so far off to me and would explain why I'm always so delayed. Like we are playing the same game on different servers. I should never connect to the Quebec server and my netduma always shows Virginia, but yet I'm always playing Quebec players who are on their server. There seems to be something so broken here?? Matching up against Quebec players alone is reason enough to quit playing this game it is the most ridiculous connection difference that determines the game before it starts. It's not worth playing when you're an hour delayed on any button press or attempt to move your player.

I set up to the Texas server and get 24 ms ping solid line?? How do I get that and 20 to Virginia from NC?

-Texas server is more delayed with movement and input delay but it's way more responsive so better to play on, makes no sense. Texas server shows a "player" or "peer" connection compared to Virginia and Columbus which both always show up as a regular "server" on my netduma. Seems to me the servers in this game are so broken that even though it's showing Viriginia server I'm actually connecting up in Quebec, which would make sense for 20 ms ping in game. My netduma shows the server to Virginia should be 6 ms ping and I've never seen lower than 19.

From my location rough distance:

-1100 miles to Texas "peer" server 24 ms ping in game

-900 miles to Quebec server ? ms ping (never shown I've connected here but pretty sure I do and it's about 19-20 ms ping)

-375 miles to Columbus server 28 ms ping in game

-300 miles to Virginia server 19-20 ms ping in game (this shows 5-6 ms ping on my router....)

How does any of this make sense?

Was there any good answer for those questions about why base O'Reilly's are way more faster and agile than my fully upgraded 92 players? Of course lag/input lag affects but shouldn't be the major factor here?

Look again at this video … go to time index 2:20 … what the hell are my CPU player (not) doing? They stood completely still.

Thats what happend with that * lag every game and the shown ping is still 8 ms.

That is no fun anymore … look at it, let a technican look at it, still unplayable from my location with a very good internet connection.

Is this is Squad Battles? If so, what level is it on? I've seen this happen on Rookie and Semi-pro when you stop moving. As you can see, once you start moving again, so do the other players.

Apologies for that. I hadn't gotten that far in the video. I just watched up to the point where they stopped moving. I've seen this happen before. Just not normally in an online game since I'm always moving. If you and your opponent stop moving, the AI players will wait for movement so they can determine where to move to.

Something happened after the last updates. SQs and challenges feels better what comes to input lag. For me rivals is super fast now, it feels way too fast.. and there is not so bad input lag know  but still got same packet loss.

There were no changes on our end that would cause this. As far as the packet loss goes, did you already go through all the troubleshooting steps here?
