Re: Origin Client - Error 9:0

Origin client says it is installing update. One progress bar fills, then client appears to restart and the update screen reappears but before progress fills, the client errors out with error 9:0 and offers to let me log in offline.

"Whoops - the installer encountered an error
The operating system is preventing us from modifying a necessary file. Please reboot your machine and try again. Temporarily disabling virus or malware scanners may help as well."

This happened the other day and I downloaded the client and reinstalled over top and it seemed to fix things at the time. Note that I already had the Origin client installed (but hadn't run it in a while) when I bought and installed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on Steam. It seemed to either install or launch Origin. Seems to be the same client and worked fine on first run, but the problems started after that so I thought I would mention it.

    Hi,

I've been using the Origin client for years now. Recently (the last two updates or so) I've been getting an errorcode 9:0.

Through deduction, I found that this was caused by the fact that I have my Origin client installed to the E Drive. When the automated update hits, it doesn't scan where to install and tries to update the application in a place it doesn't exist (the C drive).

I have found a workable work-around (i.e. deleting origin manually from the E Drive as well as deleting whatever the automated updater has installed in the C Drive before reinstalling and selecting manually where I want Origin to install).

In the past however, this wasn't a problem. Somehow this began one or two updates ago (for me). Is there a way to fix this issue that I'm overlooking? There has to be an easier way to do this then just delete the whole thing and reinstall every time an update hits.
