Bought Spore from EA App but cannot access online features

Hello,

I recently bought the a copy of Spore and the Creepy & Cute DLC from the EA App. Attached are screen captures of my issue. Note: I didn't buy them through the GoG or Steam platforms.

However, when I try to connect to online features, the following error message appears:

There was an error connecting to the Spore servers. Your computer might be offline or your Internet connection may be having problems. Check your connection or visit Spore.com for additional assistance or server status.

Background :

  • I have had a Spore account associated with my EA account since 2012. I never experienced any problem when using Origin. I recently wanted to replay the game and ran into this issue.
  • I have changed my Spore persona one time.
  • I bought a physical CD of Spore and the Galactic Adventures expansion pack back then and I had associated the CD-keys to my account.
  • I have also repurchased Spore + Creepy & Cute parts pack + Galactic Adventures expansion pack from the EA App. I can confirm that the CD-keys of my digital game copies have been successfully associated with my EA account.

I've already tried the following, without success:

  • Appending all my Spore persona to my email when trying to login as follows: <user_name>@<email_provider>:Spore_persona. I've also tried without appending anything.
  • Changed my EA account password to be under 16 characters and not contain any special character.
  • Disabled my firewall.
  • Deleting the cache from the EA App.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
  • Repairing the install from the EA App.
  • Searching in this forum and trying other user's suggestions/solutions. Specifically, my issue seems to coincide with those from these links, but I have tried their solutions without success:

I contacted an EA agent and was encouraged to ask here for further assistance. I don't want to delete my EA account and have to repurchase everything.

Any assistance would be very kindly appreciated!

    I've tried the following since yesterday:

    • Trying to access online features using a mobile hotspot.
    • Creating a new user in my PC and reinstalling the game in that user.

    So far I still haven't been able to access online features.

    Please, any assistance would be very much appreciated!
