Can't connect to Spore servers

I've gotten Spore as a gift via Steam, and one of the reasons I was excited about it was to enter in my Spore account and share my creatures.

I created a spore account and tried to enter several times, but no success. Some people told me I need to contact EA to grant me access but the EA support and cases have been no help as they seem to be using AI to answer the cases and they acted as my problem is that I don't know my password, even though I attached the error. 

Reddit told me I probably will need someone to give me an activation key to my legally obtained Spore, does anyone knows if that's the only way?
