Burnout Paradise City Remastered: Game Crashes

I just purchased Burnout Paradise City Remastered through pc game pass and i cant for the life of me manage to get the game to not crash, I've been trying for 5 hours to get it working. i absolutely love this game and grew up playing it, I was debating on getting pc game pass in the first place then seen Paradise City was included and immediately got it. I keep seeing people mention another launcher called origins but i cant find anything about it, also some people are mentioning setting a rule for windows firewall for the game but i cant find how to do it, im not very technically inclined so i'm having a hard time understanding a lot of this tech talk so please keep it simple

  • *************EDIT UPDATE***************
As i mentioned below, my last attempt was to run the game from the exe in the install folder and to run as administrator and in compatibility mode set to windows 8

i'm happy to report for me the game ran. i first got a pop up saying the game needs to run as an administrator to which i confirmed or ok then the loading screen appeared and music played and the game ran and worked.

my windows firewall kicked me out of the game to asking whether to block or allow the game access to the network i allowed but when i went back to the game i got black screen and had to manually reboot pc. so it seems if the game loses focus or you alt tab out of it when you go back in it will crash. i ran the game again and without interruption it worked so to avoid this being an issue again, I went into the games options and ran the game windowed which is a small price to pay as it works great now even if it loses focus

More detailed sorta step by step instructions below:

find the games EXE wherever you installed it my case
    C:/Games/EA Games/BurnoutPR/BurnoutPR.EXE
Right click>>>Properties>>>>Compatibility tab>>>In the compatibility mode section check the box to run program in compatibility mode for: then select windows 8 or 7 but i used 8
next under the settings section check the box next to "Run this program as an administrator"
    now click apply then ok
now i made sure both EA and XBOX apps were already running in the background (run them then minimize them)
now hold your breath and run the BurnoutPR.EXE by double clicking it or right click>>>open

like me you might just start to see some hope only to be kicked back to windows for your firewall permissions if that happens, first give it permission so that next time it won't ask then if you can't get back to the game reboot pc then re-run EA/XBOX then re-run the game

EA came up loading then a prompt about needing to run as admin to which you ok.
now game should load be aware you have 3-5mins of cinematics before you get to do much of anything.

the first thing i did when i got control was go into my video options>>>display>>>>>window mode i put windowed. That way if for whatever reason i get booted from the game it won't freeze my pc... as i'm typing this i have the game running successfully in the background

the only menu i saw was start a party (multiplayer i assume) or enter the city... i enter the city
once i was given control i hit esc to bring up a menu then using F1 and F2 to scroll between game options, controls, audio, video, graphics....etc... i mention that because it annoyed me and took me far longer than it should have to find the **bleep** menus!

I hope this works for anyone else having this issue

I too am in the same boat as you, i have GamePass Ultimate which comes with EA play and yesterday i downloaded Burnout Paradise Remastered looking forward to re-living some of the good ol days. Except that didn't happen. Instead when i run the game i get black screen. my monitor flickers between display port and display port HDR then shuts off all together and my pc becomes unresponsive, no alt tab, no windows key, no alt f4 or ctrl esc. didn't matter what i did the result always the same, i had to manually power off and turn back on my pc.

one thing i can answer is origin.

before the EA app existed there was an app called origin that's where EA sold all their games then they did a rebrand so to say and got rid of origin and replaced it with EA if you had an origin account it automatically migrated over to EA or you clicked a link or something they sent emails about it.

this however is a first for me (a game not working from such a large platform(s)

in my case i tried launching the game from:

XBOX app (failed same result as described above)
EA app (also failed with same as above result)

last attempt i'm going to try running it right from the EXE in the game install folder, i am also going to try running it as an administrator and using compatibility mode set to windows 8... will update if it works
