Patch 5.5 - Make Random Shot Dispersion Optional in Settings

EA, I have seen a enough users baffled, annoyed, fed up of this random shot dispersion.

I have also seen a few users who support it.

Therefore, just make this dam thing optional in the settings in the next patch please.

Then for people who don't mind randomly being punished when they have done nothing wrong won't have their experience changed in the slightest and the rest of us get to enjoy this game much much more.

It's a no brainer, make the change.

@RodSirloin people seemingly want a precision simulator that is nothing like real life, like some other games on the market. I have no idea what the fun is in that, because even if pros hit perfect shots, it rarely goes exactly where they planned.

Is it infuriating sometimes? Absolutely. But that's golf's middle name.

@Stevie-G-you-see  I'd say that as long as the setting only affects career and other local type play, and tournaments are controlled by a preset that the players can't change, it's a good idea. It can't hurt to make the game as appealing as possible to a wider range of players.

Let people decide for themselves how fun is defined.

  • @Stevie-G-you-see My personal opinion is that the idea of a dispersion pattern is actually a good concept. The input that is capable from a controller is too precise, making it far too easy to execute shots once you learn the mechanics.

The random dispersion adds a level of reality to things. However, they just took it way too far with some shot types and I'm not convinced the dispersion is being kept in the window displayed.

But I'm not opposed to having the option fully disabled for those that want it. But as @Noya_Wesa  says, not in a competitive environment where everyone should be playing under the same conditions

  • @RodSirloin  - It still is an issue. My skill tree of accuracy is max for driving along with legendary specs for the driver and ball.

With all that in play I can time a perfect driver shot and the ball will got he opposite way of both the blue aiming arc and the wind.

Random RNG messing up a perfect timed shot. In my opinion no player should be punished when doing NOTHING wrong, and appreciate not everyone agrees with this, hence making this an option in the settings, which suits both type of player

I think we are all pretty much saying the same thing here.

I appreciate that golf in its own right is a cruel sport in reality - when you are convinced that you do everything right and it can still hit you hard with misfortune, but this is a computer/video game. I am never going to be the next Tiger Woods in real life, but on a game I be even better than him

I also am fully aware of rubber banding / dynamic scripting being in a lot of games, whether it is in Mario Kart whereby 8th place gets the better items than in the person in 1st place, or in FIFA in which it's been proven that scripting has taken place.... but in a one player game isolated from the rest of the world?

As I have said in another post on this same topic, if I wanted RNG, I would go to a casino and play on a slot machine, which is just pure chance.

This is supposed to be a game of skill and accuracy.

If I use a higher power club and I am off a tad, I still kind of expect things not to go exactly to plan, that makes sense in the physical world, but when you get everything right and the ball is travelling in the opposite intended direction to the aim arc and the wind? Just no! It's silly.

@Noya_WesaI fully agree that turning off RNG should only be in single player local modes, but not for Tournaments and Online Play. FIFA has a good handle on this. In single player, my created player can score 10 goals since the sliders are present. In Pro Clubs, which is a competitive mode in FIFA, my player is lucky to get one goal because the sliders are completely disabled.

  • @Stevie-G-you-see I personally prefer dispersion how it is now. That said, as long as it’s optional and not included in public competitive matches/tournaments, I think providing people more options as to how they want to play a game is always a good thing.

Hi @Stevie-G-you-see Thanks for taking a moment to share your feedback with us!

I've seen a few threads on Shot behavior, if you have anything specific you'd like to see changed let us know and we can pass the feedback on to the team.

Also, If you have any videos or clips of Shot Dispersion we'd be happy to pass those along as well.

    Thanks!

  • EA knows exactly what is happening, they put it in the game.

Your fans are asking for the option to take it out.
