Re: was the swing difficulty changed?

We were running into trouble at lighthouse point in Maine, and at the Florida wetlands course. Both pretty easy putting for my friend to learn, but she even had a putt go like 45° off at an angle instead of straight, which is where she hit it I saw the screenshot.

Check the lie angle at your feet. Unlike in real golf (this is an issue with 2K as well), the game doesn't seem to take acceleration of the ball into play. In real life the ball will skid forward before the break starts coming into play. In these video games the break starts right from where the ball is sitting.

It is also easy to sometimes just push the stick a little off line.

But in saying that I think we have all said "what the while playing this game.

If it makes you feel any better I missed two consecutive putts from 3 feet a few weeks ago. One that broke that I wasn't expecting and the one coming back that didn't.

This is where I like 2K... you can more or less completely disable the swing path and guarantee a straight swing as well as turn off the shot timing. This allow you to fully test things to see if it is the game or yiu that is the problem.

This also fully opens up the game for the complete novice player to enjoy. I never understood those complaining about how hard the 2K game was to play.

  • Right but that should matter as much in arcade mode? As for the location it’s everywhere like tee boxes, fairways , sand , and apparently the green too (I love that match play lets me see the other player shot and so I saw it) . Her player hadn’t even moved their feet and the ball went 45° left on a flat green.

I agree with you. ARCADE mode just makes it easier to execute the shot. You are still able to hit a bad shot with poor timing and a bad swing path.

The putting issue could have been a one off glitch. But as I said if the ball is sitting on a side hill it will want to kick to one side. Not realistic granted but it does happen.

Being that you cannot see your opponents swing result meter they may have exaggerated the issue with a bad swing.

As far as the tee box and your other full swings, I blame a lot of that on the RNG. The dispersion that they built in. In my opinion they over did it with certain shots in order to add some difficulty and randomness into the game. I like the concept... they just went a little too far in some cases.

Make the shots harder to execute at higher difficulty levels instead of these oversized dispersion zones. It is effectively the same thing without the large amount randomness. And this way players are paid off for hitting quality shots.

  • @ELF014 I spent a little time alone at the lighthouse course and still see some shots miss a little but not as bad . I played at la cc and had 1-2 shots miss in comparison. Idk at this point what to think other than … Maybe it was because I was playing with a friend that we had troubles? Like you don’t think her Internet speed had anything to do with it, do you? It’s not the fastest.

Now that is a really good question.

On 2K23 they had an issue when you were watching your opponent hit the ball and what you saw was not what your opponent saw. I would see the ball rolling deep into the rough and into a sandtrap. My opponent would say that it was in the fairway.

I would think games would be designed to have all calculations done on the local device and the results pushed up to the servers out to the individual players in the game.

So to answer your question I hope not. That the internet would only be used to push up what had already been locally on her device. Meaning internet speed shouldn't affect her play.

But who knows... certainly not me.

  • @ELF0 I was thinking of the p2p issues like R* games in particular. Like, if whoever I am playing with has slow Internet, it slows me down to their speed . So what then if their Internet is slow and causing lag during our swing , would it cause inaccurate shots ?

So, after playing several rounds alone in career mode, I’ve have none of the problems I had when I was playing match play with another player . I hadn’t played a lot of career mode but I’m happy to see everything works for me . I’ll try to have my friend host match play and see if we get the same results.

Like I said I would find it strange if things were calculated outside the local machine. It just seems like it is asking for trouble.

If you are on the PS eco system and want to do some testing feel free to reach to me if you want.
