I am facing the same situation on the same day! Hope someone from EA will stand out and solve our issue ☹️

FYI I do not have Google+ account.. & login Game Centre then restart the game doesn't work as well.
I also lost all of my game, profile, gems, coins, plants, progress, etc. on the same day as everyone else posting on here. Obviously, there is a problem with the game! I tried reloading the game, restarting my iPad, logging out and back in to Facebook to no avail.
I contacted EA support this morning. Despite sending them screen shots of my purchases through iTunes with the order numbers, showing a screenshot of the PvZ2 achievements still listed on my iPad, helping me restart my iPad, etc., they are now telling me they cannot get my game back. Are you kidding me? 2 1/2 years of playing, purchasing plants, etc. down the drain and all I have been offered is 500,000 coins and 500 gems into a new account. I cannot tell you how furious I am!! ☹️

How did you contact EA? I'm not able to get their help request form to work.
