PVZ2 Data Retrieval Guide
Since I have seen many posts from people who have lost their accounts I am making this post. First of all. If you have not lost your progress, please take a screenshot of your “Download Preferences” under the full settings menu. It’s right under the “show rent a plant offers” setting.
If you have lost your progress,
(this sadly wont’ work if you don’t have a screen shot of your “Download Preferences” from before the wipe)
Go on the EA help website,

go to pvz2, and open a case about your lost progress. (send screenshots of your account and device number before and after the data loss. you might have to play some levels to see the after data loss progress) When someone contacts you in your emails about it, reply so they know its still a problem after a while, if all goes well, they will give you another email saying they got your account back. Only thing that doesn’t come back are which plants you’ve favorited, everything else will be there.
This worked for me and time for them to get your progress back varies.

Was finally able to get progress restored. I went here:

This topic mentions ‘[if] you’re missing content, get in touch with us’ and provides a ‘Chat with us’ option which gets you to a real person, just make sure you have a screenshot of your PlayerId to attach. Took me about 15 minutes (5 min wait time, then about 10 min for resolution).
