eh, maybe because it is very useful?  (same with Imitator). But there is good news, in the recent changes, TorchWood and quite a number of $ premium plants, such as Exploding-o-nut, Dandelion, Starfruit, Solar Tomato, Bombergrante and Hot Date etc... had been made available as F2P and unlockable with seeds. 

Anyway, the adventure can still be completed without it, the new update has brought back the adventure to a linear mode so it will be interesting and I will be replaying it again this summer on one of my unused profiles.
