Based on this side and 10th point:
10. Could not Install or Preload Be very careful while purchasing the game. It is clearly stated that the game will support only 64 bit architecture. So if you have a 32-bit PC and tried installing the game, then you are likely to get an error. EA will not allow you to preload the game, if you don’t meet the minimum requirements. Sometimes there can be issues with older version of origin also, so try updating origin.
See? It looks i spent some of my money for nothing.
Do you only have 32bit Windows?
Your license for your Windows is good for either the x86 or the x64 versions. It must be the same tier though (i.e. home x86 = home x64, pro x86 = pro x64)
**OEM copies/Lics don't count for this I don't think.
Microsoft also offers a trial version of Windows 8.1 for 90 days. It's meant for IT use but anyone can sign up (last time I did it was when 8 was in RC... but I'm pretty sure that's still the case).

The Windows ISO's (any version you want) are freely available on the internet and 100% legal to download and install. I believe those have 30 day "trials" before activation is required.
microsoft's own forum... hosted by DigitalRiver a MS partner... you can't get more legit than that.

I am using a 64 bit Windows and my computer can run just about any game. Games like Battlefield 4 were the only games I can not run on ultra settings, however it was still able to run it with exceptional speeds.

Contact EA.

Select it as a Billing/Purchasing issue.
They should be able to take care of it for you.
