Character limit per team is needed

Character limit per team should be a thing. It is hard learning a specific class when you get bombarded by 5 night caps or 5 oaks. As a main of both, I can say that this is too broken.

I would say each character should be there in a maximum of 2.

  • how about a team full of insta win engineers and super brainz. have fun with that, I usually ditch when I see more than 3 engineers.

  • Okay. So yes and no. Nightcap and Oak each have their counters. Super Brainz and/or just squad of zombies will beat both.

    Now, I have been talking about a mode similar to Overwatch's ranked mode. Not the ranked part, but the class choosing bit. PvZ just added Offense, Defense, and Support classes. If they added a mode where you choose your class ahead of time, and go into that mode with you roles assigned, I think that would fix it. Now, that would be a mode for people like you, waiting for the hype to dye down over those two plants, but Giddy and Turf Takeover and all modes in general should keep this out and just let it be it's own separate thing.

    The thing is overwhelming the enemy team with one specific class can be a legit strategy. Popcap is doing this with events and settings for a while now - which also demonstrates intended design.

    Of course its ugly when its just that one OP character that needs fixing. But a whole team of hungry Chompers just eating their way through capture points is a way to do it.

    There is always this problem that an incompetent team does not adjust its strategy. But you can't blame Popcap for that. If anything i want more commands to mark areas or remind the team that we need more of specific classes like the Engineer.

    I just have to think about the ruthless Peas with their Gatling. More Soldiers properly using their ZPG and Stink could stop that. But instead all we get is masses of Pea Gatling spam. Soldiers need to teach them some respect.
