I'm pretty sure it was always like that. Was it different in an older version?

I literally just played a game where I used Evaporate immediately after using a Chickening. It worked just fine.

In the past I have experienced a bugged Evaporate, but I thought it was fixed.

What did you do damage with?

Whoops, misread your post. Now I know what you mean, but I don't think I've ever had this problem before.
