9 years agoAfter setting both our ages and signing both players into the xbox one before loading the game, we managed to get in. We got in for the duration the town hall was open for. The second time the town hall opened we could not get in again. I think it's because I have not subscribed to xbox live. I haven't subscribed because my son plays the game with me and I'm not sure how xbox live works i.e. if it's per console or per player. I don't really want to pay for 2 xbox live accounts for the amount of games my son plays.

I believe that Xbox Live works similarly to PS+, in that you only need one subscribed account on the system and the other accounts on that same system "piggyback" on that single subscription.
However it's important to note that the Mystery Portal in Town Hall is strictly online Multiplayer/Co-Op so without an active subscription you are blocked from accessing whatever game mode might be featured there that week.
