How to get out of Online / Public mode

Yes I am over 30....where the hell do you find instructions for this game on Xbox. Every time it starts up it goes straight into Online / Public game and I can't find any option to just play local.

SOLO PLAY QUESTS
Quest Givers provide Solo Play Quests for both Plants and Zombies. They can be found throughout the Backyard Battleground. Completing them will unlock new Solo Play Quests, as well as new Quest Givers.

NOTE: Find your first Solo Play Quest by peeking behind the garage door...
