Is Dr Zomboss really in charge of the Zombies?

In the original Plants vs Zombies, Dr Zomboss's Almanac entry said that he rose to the top of his Subdivision. Subdivision of what?

Is there a bigger, badder boss in charge of all of the Zombies, while Dr Zomboss is just the local boss?

Wow, I never really thought of that. I wonder if that's ever going to be referenced again? I think it would be cool to have the boss of Doctor zomboss fire Doctor Zomboss and fight you with his zombies.

Considering how much time he spends picking fights with Crazy Dave, the Zombies should not be that far along on their organized quest to conquer the world.

He spent an entire game chasing after Crazy Dave through time trying to stop him from eating a Taco, when he could have spent it more productively, like conquering the world, or at least neighborhood, in Crazy Dave and the Player's absence. Or, with time travel, conquer time periods that Crazy Dave and the Player did not visit, to ensure that zombies came out on top in history.

Considering how far along the Zombies are, despite Dr Zomboss's singleminded feud with one (two if you count the Player) person, someone bigger has to be pulling the strings.
  • I like to think Zomboss is one of many powerful zombie leaders, but is the overall leader for the ones trying to take over coastal America. Consider the fact that Baron von Brains is Romanian or European and may simply be helping a friend out, or the fact that there are Chinese browncoats in pvz 1's mobile apps.
