Legendary Upgrade: Brainium Basher 9001 (Guide)

Welcome back again everyone...

... to even more of my Legendary Upgrade series. In this series, whenever a new Legendary Upgrade gets released by the developers, I will cover the upgrade in detail, before that however, I will first cover the upgrades that are already released. This is the last one I need to catch up on.

In this guide, I am covering the Brainium Basher 9001 (BB 9001) upgrade for Super Brainz! If you would like to know how to obtain this upgrade, use it effectively, or decide whether you should equip this upgrade or not, or you want general notes or advice on this upgrade, then do not look any further! Read this guide!'

An Overview of Brainium Basher 90901

Brainium Basher 9001 (BB 9001 for short) is a Legendary Upgrade for Super Brainz. It changes the Super Brainz's primary and secondary weapon, and completely removes his shield. His primary is replaced with a charge-up attack which, when fully charged, propels him really far forward, and if he makes contact with a plant, deals up to 125 damage to them, which instavanquishes most plants by default. His other attack is a really short-range uppercut, which deals 40 damage to plants hit by this, and knocks them up into the air, where they and the Super Brainz is vulnerable for a short time. This means he is completely melee (apart from Super Ultra Ball) and loses his shield, but gains a lot of mobility as a result. You can use this Legendary Upgrade to charge into a fight, then quickly get back out again. Overall, he becomes more offensive than without this upgrade, but loses defense as a result (his shield access).

My Personal Legendary Upgrade likeness rating: 60%. Again, I really like Melee combat, and being able to deal high damage to plants is very good. However, there is no way to deal damage at long range, except for Super Ultra Ball, and it takes time to charge-up the primary charge attack. Also, he loses one of his main mechanisms completely, his shield, and he becomes very bad at reviving. This attack probably deals more damage than it should as well. Having your abilites negated does not stop you from being able to charge long distances across the map quickly. I love mobility, and being able to charge further than All Star's Sprint Tackle with the Shoot the Gap upgrade equipped, with a primary weapon as well not an ability, is so cool! This upgrade is quite cheesy, but I like how it has high mobility (and it is melee). But there are a few negatives with it for me, especially the loss of shield and it being hard to revive (not that he needs it).

How to Obtain this Upgrade

To get hold of this upgrade, you had to get it in the July Prize Map at the end of the Golden Path. However, if you are a new player and was not able to obtain this upgrade, or you just missed out on the upgrade in the Prize Map, you may also purchase it from Rux for 300 Rainbow Stars at any time. Take note that if you did not buy this upgrade through the Prize Map for any reason, you will not get to own or use the Metal Head or Midas Tough Costume that matches with this Legendary Upgrade alongside.

When you own this upgrade, you keep it forever. There is no time limit or other restriction. You may equip (and unequip it) as often as you wish, for 5 upgrade points, and you can put it as many of your Super Brainz builds as you want to at one time, with no limitations. Because of the expensive equip cost, for best results, make a consideration of whether this upgrade is worth equipping in some circumstances.

Gameplay

This is a video I made regarding the basics of this upgrade:

Disadvantages of Upgrade

  • You lose your regular primary weapons completely.
  • You lose your Alpha Better Shield.
  • It is harder to revive, however if you time it well, you can charge up an attack, then release it after you charge-up.
  • Almost no ranged attacks.
  • You are vulnerable at the end of a charge or uppercut.

Advantages of Upgrade

  • Extremely high mobility which does not require the use of an ability.
  • Can instavanquish most plants in one shot.
  • The Uppercut makes the affected plants vulnerable to your and allies' attacks for short times.
  • The charge uppercut combo is very damaging, and can be quick to resolve.
  • You can easily use your charge to get away.
  • You can jump and move while charging your attack.
  • You can easily get out of situations that negates your abilities such as Grody Goop.

Tips for Using this Upgrade Effectively

You have got to practice with this upgrade in order to get more experienced with it. It changes the playstyle of Super Brainz, here, I will share my personal tips with you to help you do better with Super Brainz and his Legendary Upgrade:

  • Use your charge attack to instavanquish or heavily damage unsuspecting plants, from behind or something. This is a long-range melee attack, so you can do it from a bit of a distance. If you vanquish a plant, decide whether to retreat for a bit or to keep going.
  • Use your uppercut on a plant straight after you charge at them for extra damage or a finisher.
  • Use your charge attack to get away from hairy situations or to get away when you are at low health.
  • Use your charge attack to get away from instavanquish or high damaging attacks or abilities, such as Burrow, Grody Goop, Fung Fu, or Pea Gatling.
  • Your best targets are still targets, such as Pea Gatling Peashooters or Sunbeamers, or Cactus when they use a drone. You can vanquish them instantly and they cannot stop you. Try to do it when they are unaware.
  • If there is a plant causing trouble to your team or that needs to be focused upon, if you can, get up to them and uppercut them, it makes that plant vulnerable to your allies' attacks for a short while and they take damage from your uppercut. Just note you will be a bit vulnerable to other attacks too.
  • When you charge up a charge (good one me), try and do it behind cover to avoid getting damaged, or jump and move around as you do so to reduce your chances of getting hit.
  • Your abilities are important to aid in escaping or dealing extra damage. Be mindful of when you should use them. Turbo Twister is excellent in groups. Hyper Jump Thump is the same, or can be used for escape. Super Ultra Ball allows you to deal damage from range.
  • Try and wait for your team before you start charging into the enemy team as they can give you support fire while you go in and start decimating. If you have no allies nearby, the plants can easily gang up on you and vanquish you.
  • Your biggest weakness: Potato Mines. There are no way you can vanquish them without being vanquished yourself, as you are almost exclusively melee, and they will instavanquish you. Try and get an ally to help you, jump over the mines as you charge, or use Super Ultra Ball from a bit of a distance, and destroy as many as you can with splash damage.

Watch some footage of me and my brother doing some gameplay of Brainium Basher 9001 upgrade below if you are in any way interested, you may learn some interesting tips for BB 9001, also you get to experience how annoying Al aimbot is. Hooray! Nice!:

What could you equip for your other 2 upgrade points?

You have 2 extra upgrade points that you are able to use once this upgrade is equipped. My suggestions for upgrades you could equip include:

  • Speed Bag (2 upgrade points). When you get a vanquish by any means, you charge up your charge attack faster, meaning you can synergise with this upgrade to allow you to get even more vanquishes more quickly, if you know what you are doing.
  • Fearless (2 upgrade points). By default, you heal when successfully damaging enemies, if you want more healing, this upgrade is for you! When you are near 2 or more enemies, remember this character, and especially the upgrade, are melee-orientated, you gain 8 health per second, giving you more of an edge in combat with multiple enemies and a team backing you up.
  • Combo and Low Life (1 upgrade point each). When you get multiple vanquishes in fairly quick succession in any way, Combo's effect kicks in. You get a significant reduction in refresh time to your abilities. Your abilities work really well with the upgrade, so it is great to be able to use your abilities more. With Low Life, if you manage a vanquish at low health, you gain 30 health, meaning it is easier for you to stay in the fight or to make an escape afterwards with some bonus health if you need it.

Who does Brainium Basher 9001 Hard Counter (opinion)?

Sunflower. Sunflower has very good healing in order to keep her and her allies unvanquished. However, Brainium Basher 9001 has a trick in store for her! He can charge up from a fairly long range and make a quick dash at her and instavanquish her, no matter how much she heals herself (unless she somehow gains overhealth). If she goes to run away, you can easily catch up. Use your charge attack or Hyper Jump Thump to get in close, then finish her with your charge attack, Turbo Twister or Super Ultra Ball. Uppercut her if you need to urgently deal damage to her, or to reduce her chances of escaping. If you are in a close enough proximity to her, this just gets easier again.

Sunny Side Up is not going to save her, by default and without upgrades, when the ability is first activated, she moves slower for a very short time, making it easier for you to catch up, also the healing that she will get will not matter to you as you can simply charge into her and instavanquish her anyway. She can either attack you or try to run away from you, but not both. If she attacks you, get behind a wall and start charging your charge attack. Sunbeam can be an issue, but if you start getting damaged by it, use your charge to get away or move location. Once you are close to her, especially if behind, try to quickly charge your charge attack and instavanquish her, she cannot move in Sunbeam so this should be easy to do. Her Heal Beam is going to help her teammates, but not herself, so this will not directly be an issue to you. If there is a Sunflower at the back healing everyone, try going against her.

Using Abilities in Sync with Upgrade

Turbo Twister: When you have got really close to an enemy, whether it is with your charge or some other way, it may be worth using Turbo Twister, especially if that enemy happens to have low health when you arrive. This also may be worth using after you have used your uppercut or Hyper Jump Thump, as well, to keep the enemy close to you before you activate your Turbo Twister. This ability is also excellent against grouped enemies, use your charge or Hyper Jump Thump to get close to the group, then use Turbo Twister and see how many quick vanquishes you can get. Then, either use your charge or Hyper Jump Thump to keep fighting or to get away.

Hyper Jump Thump: This ability is another way of gaining some decent mobility. This is good for closing distance on enemies that are really far away even more quickly, or to retreat faster without needing to charge up first. It is also useful for pulling enemies in toward you to make it easier to perform your other attacks as necessary. This ability also deals damage similar to the uppercut, so this may be worth using in order to finish a retreating enemy. Using it along with your charge (for mobility) is probably one of its best uses.

Super Ultra Ball: This is such a useful ability to have with your BB 9001, so savour it like it's food. Just note it's not. This is your only ranged attack. You have no other way of dealing ranged damage. Take note that you are vulnerable while you use this ability, but if you pull it off, you can deal plenty of damage with it. It's great to use against enemies that are simply too far away, or on Potato Mines as any other form of contact with them will instavanquish you along with them. This ability deals lots of damage, so another good way of using it is to provide ranged support, weaken high health enemies, or finish enemies that have been weakened or have low health. This ability is very versatile, and you are vulnerable during start-up, so be mindful of when you decide to use it.

Conclusion

As with other Legendary Upgrades, while this upgrade can take a lot of points to equip and can also be hard to obtain in the first place, with practice and good use of this upgrade (which should have a nerf) it will more than likely be worth it. Consider what you want to equip for your last 2 upgrade points to maximise your output, and do not abuse this upgrade too hard, it is just asking for a nerf!

I suggest trying out this upgrade if you have not already, and deciding whether you like it or not before you make an official decision on it.

Hopefully this guide was entertaining, informative, and keeps the community satisfied!

I'm outta here (Outta Fight!) - see you later!

  • @TheSprinter85 As I like to say, your guides are amazing 🙂. I really enjoyed reading this guide. But only reading it. The videos .....

I actually think you weren't playing him in a toxic way. Ver well done! It's just whenever I hear his charging sound I get PTSD 🤐.

    Hopefully they nerf him soon.

I from now on refer to this upgrade not as "Brainium Basher", but as "Gameium Crasher" and "Brainless Smasher".

@gametrieuk I also really like the concept of the upgrade. It changes his play style so much, it's great. If only it weren't so crazy overpowered.

@Shadowphinx101 Short answer: Don't use him. Long answer: Don't use him, but read the amazing guide on him 🙂.

In my own opinion, Brainium basher is Easy to beat. usually if you like playing as Peashooter, Corn, Citron, or Rose, you should have an easy time.

IF you use rose, Use goatify, and then Arcane enigma wall they are charging, but usually do goatify wall they are charging, then if they dash, arcane Enigma, It makes them waste their charge, and worst comes to worst they'll just launch up, and turbo twist you.

If you use corn you can counter it with his Shogun-Guard upgrade, sure the shield won't help, but it'll take a hit, but also his DPS is decent to take out the Brainum. also, if you see one dash at you, Husk hop. you'll avoid it and deal damage to them. I also recommend buttered branches, so when you put up your shield with Shogun-Guard, so it doesn't slow you down.

If you use Peashooter. Just pogo pea (pogo peaing Btw just in case someone doesn't know. is just using hyper, and using it's jump height to Evade enemy bullets, rockets, dashes, blasts, Etc) Is pogo peaing an opponent shameful? yes. But if they play Brainuim, then they already are asking for it.

Last, but not least. citron. Bascially, EMP Peach the Brainuim basher, stunning them slows em down, and when they can't charge attacks it's less Insta DPS they deal with a bash, Also citron's shield will sponge, and block the Bash too. Hopefully, for the people who say they have issues with brainuim find this and if this helps with it. then your welcome, Please reply if you have any suggestions, comments, or thing's you'd like to add.
