PVZ Battle for Neighborville: EAC Untrusted system file

Hello, when I try to start Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville on my PC, Easy Anti-Cheat comes up with the error: Untrusted system file (C:Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Total Security 20.0\x64\antimalware_provider.dll).

I am running the latest versions of Windows 10 and Kaspersky Total Security. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PvZ. I have run CClearner and sfc /scannow. I have added EAC and PvZ files and directories to the exclusion list in Kaspersky. I have paused and exited Kaspersky yet I still get the EAC Untrusted system file message.

I have logged help requests with Kaspersky, EAC and Origin.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi @EA_Darko , thanks for all your help. The problem is now solved.

Solution: I downloaded a new version of Origin from https://www.origin.com/aus/en-us/store/download

I can still run Kaspersky without getting the error message from EAC about the 'Untrusted system file' and now both PvZ Battle for Neighborville and Apex Legends work - previously after the EAC splash screen the games tried to open but closed by themselves and disappeared.

I should have realised that Origin was the problem as both PvZ and Apex are within Origin and weren't working with EAC but Fortnite was working with EAC and that is not within Origin.

Thanks again Darko and sorry to have taken up your time. I hope that this may help others.

Hey @ZombiePlantMage this issue is caused by your anti-virus and EAC having an issue with one another. The best thing to do is ensure that EAC and PVZ is added to your white list in Kaspersky.

You can also try disabling your anti-virus when playing.

  • Hi Darko, thanks for the suggestions. I have already specified EAC and PvZ as Kaspersky trusted applications and added both to Kasperky's exclusion list.  I have also turned off Kaspersky but somehow still get the same error message.

If you are still seeing the error @ZombiePlantMage then it would point to your Kaspersky still running and blocking EAC. Can you disable it fully and then try running it again? It may be no harm to uninstall it and then try the game again to see if you see the same error.

  • Hi Darko, I uninstalled Kaspersky and tried to start the game. The EAC 'Untrusted system file' error message did not come up but the game tries to load but then disappears. This is the same as I am getting when I try to run "Apex Legends" from within Origin. Both games show the EAC loading screen and then try to launch the game but then nothing - just back to wherever I tried to start it from.

I have now reinstalled Kaspersky and of course I am back to the EAC Untrusted system file error message.

Any ideas as to why neither PvZ nor Apex Legends runs - they are both under Origin and both use EAC.

I turned off the firewall incase this was the problem but still doesn't work - firewall back on now.

    Thanks again.
