Re: Giddy Park games are gone.

Yes, I was disappointed to see they'd gone. There should be an Advent-type event, one mini-quest each day . . .

@chogath_player No idea what that picture says as I use my phone for forums and it won't let me zoom lol but yea Xmas activities be cool.
  • @FarQM8It's an eye test. If you can't read it, time to visit the eye doctor. I actually turned my phone sideways and that made mine large enough without straining.

Most of the description is about the base game. It actually doesn't mention much in detail. Something about spending some time "offline with some fun PvZ activities coming soon" but that can't mean this game because we don't have offline play.

Edit - Unless THAT'S our Christmas present! Yay for offline play!

@TLEsquire  that would be sooooo great if they gave us offline with bots and different modes/maps and gardinator/gravenator positions....
been in GW2 a couple of times this week for the community challenge and had a couple of offline games and some Ops was good having all those choices again 😃

  • @TLEsquire Sadly "offline play" is something they often use to describe PvE / Giddy Park (anything that's not accessed via Multiplayer Portal) but it WOULD be sooo nice!!! *wistful sigh*
  • @asabaida I don't want to build up my hopes and be let down but man that would be the best gift for me for this game. I miss private play so much. Maybe I could even draw the kids back into the game with it.

I literally can’t watch (can’t imagine playing) GW2 or it makes me cringe at how much I’m convincing myself to like BfN.

Holding out hope, I remember not liking GW2 near as much as GW1 for the first.... year?

My issue isn’t map frustration or character issues (like back then) my frustration is the feel of the game/aiming.

Praying today’s update brings back the feeling of FUN to BfN instead of that obligatory “better get it done before I miss out” feeling.

Its only maybe the second or third time Ive been back to GW2 since beginning of Founders....
and it feels weird.... but wow do I miss sprinting 🙂
and it seems a lot darker but its still fun, but then back to BFN it is....
gotta get those damn 40 rainbow stars... 😃

@ToastedSarnie  If BfN doesn’t feel that way to me by the end of January, I’ll be done with it.  Sad to say but I’m too old to sit around and PLAY a GAME that nonstop infuriates me.  The GW games brought my family JOY.

At this point in our lives, we don’t spend (wife and I) much time on things that don’t enhance our lives... sorry to ramble... but.... I love gaming/mentoring to youngsters and really hope this gets straightened out before my patience wears too thin. 🙇‍♂️

  • I went back for the community challenge this week too. It felt like I was playing in molasses. My poor controller as I repeated hit the sprint button trying to go faster.

@spIash_damage I do hope this patch makes things more fun for you. I've not been infuriated at this game yet, I did finish the Quake 2 expansion 'Ground Zero' Sunday and THAT infuriated me unlike the original Quake 2 or the 'The Reckoning' expansion I'm working on now, but I can see why BfN would be frustrating.

The most infuriated a game made me was actually WoT where so many bad teams in a row one night made me smash my monitor so hard it no longer worked and I had to grab my backup and then buy a new one (which I still have today).

The part about BfN that frustrates me the most is that there is so much to love here but its held back by the current aiming/control issues and balance problems, with a few others that aren't as critical (I do want Ops to be improved though). It's just a pinch away from greatness, you can see it right there in front of you, but a few key issues hold it back.

    The thing is...
do I have the will anymore?
Can I cope with the boredom?
    And the stress?
    Does it even matter?
Do I need the costumes from Rux?

I think the answer to these questions is actually a no on all counts.... 😃

And the truth... if I had the money... by now I would have bought some rainbow stars in the packs through pure and utter frustration... but I guess thats the point...
And thats not to say of course I wouldn't or don't want to support the game financially but sometimes folk are unable to spend on such luxuries.

But goddam... those costumes are so cool 😃

I usually played Engineer, Alien Flower, Peashooter, Scientist, and Twilight Chomper (once it was released) so BfN feels SIGNIFICANTLY slower to me.  The walk feels like a crawl an the sprint isn’t near as fast as my turbo jackhammer or burrow... doesn’t even feel as fast as two warps from the old school Scientist.

I play any other characters that I loved (Scuba Soldier or Commando Corn... even any Brains or All Star) and I could SWOOCE across maps.

Granted - we sprint faster in BfN but everything else feels like running in mud to me.

    EDIT: autocorrect revenge

  • @Iron_Guard8  Always such an asset to the community....

Try out PvP in BfN for a full evening (without searching for the “right” server) and I am afraid you’ll be in for anger. 🙁

This title has more little boys playing 1 or 2 characters only and switching teams as much as any I’ve seen.  I also get killed in a fraction of a second and often times have NO CLUE who or what killed me (until I see the name plate).

My spatial awareness is well above average and I have 100/100 up/down fiber cable so I can’t imagine how newcomers would feel.

I’ve refrained from saying much about why I don’t play PvP until now because I didn’t wanna be a kill joy but I used to LOVE PvP (in fun servers) in the other games (and any online game I’ve ever played)... this, though, is LAME to me.

I can be 1st or 2nd every match (for the most part) but I am not willing to use the tactics it takes to do so in BfN.

Anyone that’s ever gamed with me or watched my videos knows I LOVE to be a game changer/sacrifice myself for the greater good.  Used to, I’d take out 3 - 8 players with me before I died and gave my team a chance to win/advance but now I run out and die without seeing a bullet or anything.

    Just... struggling. 😢

@spIash_damageI have a couple of minutes where I miss sprint, but everything else feels faster & more fluid. Love it!

    Yes!

and the crappy thing is... we have representatives (gamers) of all platforms willing to carry this game on our backs (with our undying support and online presence) and we’re too worried about making money to get the basics right?  EA David and Blueberry can only do so much for us...

Just wish the developers (or whoever it shall be) would listen to the pleas of this community and get things straight.

If today’s patch doesn’t bring back some fun for me, I’ll hang my hat until @dwooten77  calls me and tells me the games fixed 🤣... (or till GW3).

    EDIT: typo

@spIash_damage Oh I have played many PvP matches here already. Before they fixed the bulb XP I would play hours of TT to get them and it just doesn't bug me as much as it does some people. I am playing a little more cautiously than I like, but it hasn't been as frustrating for me as it obvious has for others. Not saying it's ideal because it isn't, but my experience here hasn't been as bad.

I have seen the Scientist assassins we all dislike but not in the profusions some have reported. Same with Space Cadets/Stations, I'll go 10 matches in a row and see maybe 3 of them total I'm seeing a broad mix of characters in matches overall. I do see some that only play one side/one character, over and over but I've seen that since GW1.

It's been about a week and a half since I hit PvP hard, so it may be worse but last time I sat down and played for 3+ hours of PvP, I did enjoy it.

Today's patch has a LOT of work to do, it sounds like it could well make or break the game for many people!

  • Really the only thing that gets me frustrated on this game is how people sit near the team gates at giddy park and just XP farm. Sometimes I just wanna roam around in giddy park with friends but the people puppy guarding the spawn area make it IMPOSSIBLE to get our of the spawn area. And when I do get away from the spawn area, somebody always chases me and finishes me off. I know it's a combat area, but I wish people would be more respectful of freedom in the game.

@PineapplePiano Maybe try putting your world settings on Private and just getting in a party with friends. I haven't been in the public Giddy Park since before Founders ended. I play private with AI so I can do quests and things and so it isn't too boring.
  • @FarQM8 Good job! Camping like that in the "fun" mixing game area between bases is kinda cheap and I genuinely got sick of it enough to just not go back. Running around in packs is just fine; this sort of spawn camping is rude.
  • Lol I never considered making a private match- I'm kind of new to online multiplayer games and how they work. Thank you for your suggestion!
