For the Get-Off-My-Lawn-A-Thon I've noticed that on Zombies you need anyone with a shotgun style damage spread or some form of splash damage and for best results on Plants you want, once gain, someone with splash damage or Rose for the Homing; trying to nail someone with a precision weapon is laughably impossible with the Speed boost craziness in effect.
While I was figuring out the best character choice it was frustrating but once you properly understand what character variants work and which ones don't it definitely becomes more fun and you start to understand why you see so many of a particular class or variant on the battlefield.
Once you adapt to the speed a skilled Scientist or Rose player can be a real monster in this particular game mode and I've had some of my best games yet as both of those character classes; 76 vanquishes with a 17 streak with the Chemist and 50 vanquishes and a 30 streak with Rose.

I was able to do quite a lot of good with default rose before I grew bored of playing her and switched to a character I can still level up. The constant jumping technique is improved with the super speed.
With some experience you'll find that Rose has a "sweet spot" even with the Super Speed in effect which makes her Homing ability a force to be reckoned with.
With the Speed Boost in effect most of the character variants available are garbage at close range since nobody is going to stop circling or jumping and stand still long enough for you to aim at them so a key part of the tactics involved here is to figure out what range you need to be at and how much to lead your target in order to make your weapon most effective.
I know of the sweet spot and I have done well with rose. She is just not good in closed spaces where it counts the projectiles are too slow and the homing causes them to veer off course. Didn't see that many roses in games do to them being only used to open portals. The Frost Rose to me was the most effective.
This new Citron versus Zombies event is one of the worst i have played so far.
The plants just take one base after another. You can't even respawn from the last failed defense before the Citrons have already taken 50% of your next base. And then 6 zombies try to hit 2 Citrons in ball form until all the Corns arrive and the next base is lost. 😞
I don't need more of this Citrons versus Zombies.
The only good thing i can see in this is that after all the rushdown at Moon Base Z the zombies can actually manage to win like 10-0 or 12-2. Which is nearly impossible to see in normal TT.
