    @spIash_damageOMG ok so two thoughts....
    1) I feel like more of a loser as you are winning these matches that i swore up and down were 'Impossible" You are obviously a young whipper snapper 🙂
    2) Do you think there is a difference between how good characters are depending on the controller? Like a PC vs Xbox. Are there differences, like actual damage outputs and the like? Thanks much for the video's as they are so much more teaching than just typed tips 🙂 They are very valuable to me.

Also i have actually been only trying with Oak because i thought that i needed his sturdiness...i will use my pea tonight and report back.

  • @Pinch1Off   just shy of 40 but I like to consider that young.

    =]

PC doesn't have the drunken tracking we have on consoles... no doubt - this isn't a question.  Watch my upcoming Oak video.  All Aim Assist is "off," too.

When I have more time, I'll be happy to go further in depth about any character playstyle you'd like to know.

Disclaimer:  I'm about to post Corn and Oak in a separate post so they can be edited (with brief suggestions) when I have time.

EDIT:  Corn's strategy isn't much different than those listed earlier in this thread but the number one advice is to USE PRIMARY FIRE!  Don't rely on Shuck Shots or Husk Hops doing their diligence... RAPID RELOAD is the only upgrade that matters.  It's amazing when you get the knack of aiming his primary fire and NOT relying on his abilities... such a different playstyle.  I don't like mid - long range battles but the longer the better here.  If you see Super Brainz or All Star headed your direction, engage them IMMEDIATELY to (hopefully) get the advantage before they have time to use their abilities.  If you're low on health, play it smart and try to bend the corners (use beacon and shoot enemies as they're rounding corners/just before they can hit you)...

I know some of this information is easier said than done but when some of it becomes second nature, you can really make strategic decisions as opposed to impulsive reactions.

2nd EDIT:  Upgrade kit = Rapid Recob, Rough Patch, Combo, Low Life, and 20/10

EDIT: Acorn/Oak is a character set I found surprisingly difficult.  Oak needs some reverting (at minimum, partial reverting) back to the state of the character pre-balance.  Period.  This challenge really shows how limiting the balance was to Oak.

That said... It's SUPER important here to stick with Sunflower when you can.  Use the Hardened upgrade and health regen/delay upgrades. Attack enemies at a distance pay attention to the timing of your abilities.  I don't switch out of Oak often so it's imperative with a character that can't sprint (or taunt 😢 ) to improvise when necessary and really use abilities to their max potential.  For instance... use the log roll to knock All Stars shielding/Super Brainz armor, etc..... to knock that type of stuff down and always try to use primary fire to finish 1 v 1's or other advantageous scenarios.

When I respawn, I don't channel Oak until I'm near a team member, if I can help it (if I don't have to engage with a one-hit opponent).

Try to anticipate enemies around corners and utilize health regeneration with abilities respawning and hit 'em with your best shot, so to say.... You can stagger your  abilities 5-8 seconds apart and (typically) survive with primary fire as you unload abilities as they become available.

  • Would you share what upgrades you used with the Peashooter & Citron?

Also, I notice that I get swarmed from multiple sides more often than you do .

Glad you bumped this, I need to upload Sunflower and finish beating it with other plants.

Q1: Homing Pea and Gatling (extended use per kill in gatling).

Q2: I’ve played shooters a LONG time and that’s the biggest part of my success in PvP or difficult PvE...  Paying attention to the field of enemies is a skill that takes a while to polish but once you get the hang of it, you become super deadly in that you can jump in and take out a few enemies, then back up to safety (with or without backup/team).

I try to imagine the entire enemy force as one solid shape.... let’s call it a circle for the sake of simplicity.

If you’re forced to the middle of the “circle” (where you can be surrounded), try to GET OUT quickly (at all costs) so that nobody is behind you or encircling you.  Keep a mental note of the last position you saw enemies (pretend Corn’s Butter Barrage is showing you enemies) and truly try to visualize where your enemies are/where they’re going.  Don’t attack every single chance you get; learn to pick your fights.

Once you get good at this, you can (kinda) control the herd, so to say, and will have a lot better chance fragging multiple opponents at funnel points as opposed to continually being swarmed by multiple enemies that are impossible to defeat.  Also - attack from distance any chance ya get.

    Hope this makes sense/helps.

@spIash_damageMany thanks for your help - I'll give it a try!

You’re very welcome!  I have Sunflower and Nightcap I need to upload still.  Depending on my schedule today, I’ll try my best to upload them and beat it with the rest of the plants.

If you happen to be on PS4 and need a hand with anything, let me know. 😊👍

  • After taking some time away from this battle chest after getting really frustrated, I finally beat this one solo.  Got to 49-50 using Citron and then won 50-44 using Snapdragon.

I see a lot of variability in the play of the Plant AI characters.  One time they'll appear "intelligent" and Chomper & Sunflower will work together and run up some vanquishes.  The next game, they'll all be running around individually and getting killed regularly.

The challenges in this video are slightly easier now as they were recorded before TTK (time to kill) changes were applied.  That said, the general approach to winning is still the same with most characters.  Citron’s change to Naval Laser made him one of the most difficult to adjust post TTK so good job.

Congrats and thanks for letting us know your experience!
