Re: Sunflower Ability Change...

Currently we have the Dark Flower ability as an alternative to the Healing Pot. This little evil flower doesn't feel very useful at all, in just about any situation. She does little damage, with kind of ok range, but definitely not good enough to actually be that effective.

I find if you know how to utilize the dark flower, it can definitely be effective. So you may just need more practice with it.

It is an interesting idea though on the bonkchoy. but that would mean sunflower would be stuck sitting right next to it in order for it to protect her, and since she needs to be moving around to heal others, it's not very practical.

I don't know how you want me to play the Dark Flower ability... Like I said it's limited range makes it an easy harmless target for people. And it's damage is weak. You can attempt to plant it somewhere "hidden" but that rarely ever works. Again, me using the Healing Pot ability is 10,000x more effective as a character than the dark flower simply because I can use it as a obstacle to run around and attempt to get the opposing player to shoot it instead of me, sucking up healing stars all the while... I don't need a very limited damage assistant in the Dark Flower. I'd rather take a status effect Bonk Choy. Much more practical and useful. It would be a situational ability, just like you say the Dark Flower is now. Only I find the Bonk Choy option way more usable.

Sunflowers do definitely stay stationary for periods of time, on the back lines. Or if you're running with people throw it down at the end of the run where you know your allies are setting up to make a stand. I know so many advancing spots on turf wars maps where you can put a bonk choy effectively to stop rushing zombies. Like around teleporters and chokepoints. And you can leave it there for them! And then go run off to heal others.

  • Yea they nerfed the dark flower in PVZGW 2. In PVZGW 1 it had very good range and accuracy. Now it is close range and misses alot.

Well to me, that's exactly one of the benefits of the dark flower. If you have it hidden to one side of a path, and are stationed on the opposite side near some cover, any opponent has to contend with 2 targets now. Provided they can even tell where the dark flower is hidden. If that's the first thing they see, they will attack it, giving you a clear shot at them. And if they see you first, you can fire from cover, and the dark flower will be steadily be weakening them.

You can also position dark flower so that it hits zombies in the back as they pass it trying get to the base. They will either continue on towards the base and take steady damage, so they're easier to pick off, by the team, or they will turn around to see who's shooting at them and try to take out the flower, leaving the plant team the chance to attack.

Dark flower may not suite your play style, but it still can be used effectively.
