So, a friend, who only tried the first GW a couple of times, commented on how much he disliked the taunts in the game. He thinks it's a rude thing to do, and likened it to tea-bagging in other games....

It's for the enjoyment of the vanquished - and to make a point. I use it only when I take out Electro Brainz (after the Graveyard Variety update) or Rose (before the update).
Of course, you are obligated to gesture if you make it to the top performer screen.
