Yeti King Boss Hunt too hard?

This Boss Hunt combines several previous challenges from previous Boss Hunts.

First, after the Yeti takes a bit of damage, he starts dancing. While he is dancing, you must destroy several... Popsicle things. They're like the healing burgers from the Sasquatch event. Fail to destroy all of them in time, the team dies.

After that, The king's army arrives, and you must fight them off. Some time later, the king's fool (a champion Imp) spawns. When vanquished he drops a slushie. When a player interacts with it, a glowing circle appears around them. That player and anyone in the circle's radius gets a 50x damage multiplier, similar (but not identical) to the Spooky Squash event.

There are many reasons I say this event is so hard (by far the hardest Boss Hunt yet)...

1. With all the Yeti Imps, Arctic Troopers, AC Perrys, and Goalie Stars running around, it is easy to find yourself frozen every few seconds.

2. Time is very strict, you must destroy the popsicles very quickly, or the entire team dies.

3. The other players have to remain in the circle around the player who drank the slushie to get the great damage boost.

4. The boost only lasts for about 40 seconds, and the cycle to get it set up again takes about 4-5 minutes.

5. It's very difficult to get much damage off on the Yeti King in one go, considering the shorter duration of the boost and the fact that if the player who took the slushie dies early, the boost automatically ends.

There are a few ways I could see this hunt actually being possible...

1. The timer for destroying the popsicles starts with 30 seconds, compared to 20.

2. The slushie's boost lasts for a full minute and the circle other players need to stand in is larger.

3. The slushie's damage multiplier is 100x, compared to 50x.

Don't get me wrong, I've loved all each and every boss hunt so far, including this one. I simply think this one takes the difficulty too far.

I managed to beat this hunt on Normal, Hard(twice), and Crazy with randoms. Not sure how it happened though.

For normal we had two VampFlwrs(me) and two Corns, one regular and one bbq corn. All of us were high ranked with the corns being 40something and 54 and I am at the moment 28. The corns were just whittling the boss's health down like he was nothing and without the damage boost. Felt like the damage boost was optional and they didn't know about it until i retrieved it.

Crazy got off to a rocky start with the other Vamflwr disconnecting as soon as the match started. A player joined but decided to play as a Hot Rod Chomper, whom quit pretty quickly. Then the Kernal Corn player got disconnected. So another player joined as a electrocitron but he wasn't bad. We managed to get beat the Crazy mode with just the three of us. Wished I recorded it.

I'd imagine that the corns were fully leveled and that they had damage multipliers I assumed.(I don't have mine fully leveled yet.)

Good.

Should be hard. Gotta thank the devs again for developing another challenge so that if you lose, you really lose. Can't go to the stickershop with the coins and buy the reward for this.

This one could actually rival the Tale of the Spooky Squash in terms of difficulty, if only because of the constant freezing effects which so many enemies can inflict. It definitely combines the "Boss has incredibly high Health" aspect from The Tale of the Spooky Squash and the "instantly vanquished if you Fail" from A Dinner With Sasquatch.

I've written a more detail tutorial elsewhere but the two key things for this Boss Hunt are to have heal Flowers and Sunflowers with heal beams at the ready since being healed cancels out any Status effect, like a movement penalty or freezing effect.

The ideal situation is for a Sunflower to target a higher damage character with their Heal beam and then drop their own Heal Flower, preferably the Rainbow Heal Flower alternate ability for the constant Sundrops if they have it available. The Sunflower should try to stay back so that the character they are actively Healing gets targeted by the Bosses and the character being healed should try to stay close enough to the Sunflower that the Heal Beam doesn't break. You don't have to chase the Yeti King until you have Super Sunshine Power and it's actually better to stay far away from him otherwise.

You also need to be able to reach the little Snowman tokens quickly to destroy them so that you can avoid Winters Grasp- every time to destroy one you get more time added to give you a chance to get to the next one; breaking up into teams of two where one destroys the Token while the other fends off Zombies can work well.

I was on it just after launch when everyone was still trying to figure out what to do so the random Groups I was put with had a hard time getting very far, especially with newbie players dropping out because of the high difficulty curve but I'm confident that when I group with my regular team we'll knock this one out soon enough.

It is also best to play normal for the silver to diamond hats. If you play hard you won't get the gem hat and instead get the ones for beating normal.

Another thing is that is best to approach the damage boost as a team before someone picks it up so that everyone can stay together. Sunflowers should use the power up to keep the zombies off their teammates so they can shoot the boss without dying.

They changed how boss hunts work with the last update so you have to beat normal first to unlock the next difficulty tier then beat it on hard to unlock the next. whether or not that's good or bad depends on if you have people to do boss hunts with or not otherwise you're gonna be stuck doing normal rounds only for awhile.

On the subject of if this is hard or not i just find it very annoying. Being constantly slowed and frozen and dealing with the worst boss in the game (it's like an entire frozen yeti wave) is not my idea of fun.
If they didn't make enemies weaker during boss hunts idk how this would be possible on hard or crazy mode.
People are also playing like they've never fought a yeti boss before. I swear i keep seeing people get up as close as possible to the yeti boss often and it's even worse when they have the dmg buff on them and do it and end up getting killed.

Another issue i have is that people just stay keeping agro on the boss when you can't really deal damage to him instead of taking out the frozen hero mobs and the king's fool takes forever to spawn sometimes. sometimes i think it's due to the fact that you have to kill the disco and yeti bosses for him to spawn but he just spawns whenever he wants regardless if one or both of them are alive and that eats up a lot of time. Same thing with waiting for the yeti to dance

Even Bloodborne and Dark Souls is easier alone than this with 3 others players. Broke my hand just to finish the Normal mode thanks. Need to be more friendly for new players who play with us too.

This is overall a very disappointing game mode. It isn't balanced in the slightest, and the majority of the community suffer playing it. It seems as if it was only made for pre-made teams of professional players to have a hard time with. Even when playing with a high level team who all know exactly what to do, we get steamrolled constantly. And this is just on Normal. I've finally got far enough in the Trials of the Gnomus to need 150 rainbow stars for the two chests. And the game mode had to be nearly impossible. Assuming 3 rainbow stars is the maximum reward... (because winning is far beyond reliable). I've gotta grind out 50+ games. They need to make it significantly easier just to get half of the playerbase to have a chance at winning.

It's not fun, it's not fair, it's grindy, broken, and a total mess. Even people who'd find it easy admit it's nearly impossible to find a team of random 3 players to win with.
