Active stylus does not function properly in games

I have not tried all games, but games such as Merge Academy and Farm Merge, using an active stylus on iPad Pro I cannot actually move any of the items. In farm merge I can tap the box to spawn an item, can tap finished jobs, but cannot interact with items otherwise. Can’t tap a toolbox or tree, tapping the buildings doesn’t work. Using my finger works as well as using a rubber tip stylus. I switched from rubber tip to active stylus because I kept having issues with smoothness of movement and having to tap repeatedly to get something to work (like spawning items in Merge)

is this a me problem? I’m very sad that this isn’t working.
