Repeatedly Shorted on Scrabble Timer/Time Runs Out Too Fast

When playing Scrabble, I keep getting msg that "time has expired", or that "opponent has extended my time", and it's only been 5 seconds, or 15 seconds, or just returned from intermission.   Although...

@susieqself I'M getting the same thing. it's really getting frustrating because i haven't even taken a turn and at 1:56 my time has ran out but i haven't even gone yet. then i have to wait for the opponent to extend my time so i can go.
