There is an issue with contest of mayors not rewarding the correct prize. Unfortunately the support team likely won’t give you the correct prize if you contact them but you can try. The good news is that it is a rare glitch and you probably won’t experience it again.

About the regional currency, that image was most likely taken during the Hidden City Design Challenge. The Hidden City Challenge was in the Limestone Cliffs region so if you visit the Hidden City challenge and come back it will show the Limestone Cliffs currency. You can make it show the correct currency by visiting your region and going back to whatever you were doing. The same thing happens in the current Americana challenge because it is in the Cactus Canyon region. Whenever a design challenge is in a region, it will show that region’s currency when you come back and fix when you visit your region.
