I am having the EXACT same issue.
Crashed my PC 3x.
Patch 1.6.1 doesn't fix the problem!

Neither does updating to the set of 13.3 beta AMD catalyst drivers. Im upgrading to a 7950 next week. Anybody had any problems with them?

I have a 7970 and played with 13.1 and 13.3 drivers.
I've been playing Sleeping Dogs, Starcraft II, Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 on a 120hz monitor with fps in excess of 60fps.
This game is causing the GPU to hit temps over 70 degrees and causes artifacts (i.e. black flashing squares) intermittently, even when the graphics settings are set to medium and the fps is capped to 60.
I'm quite able to play any other games without problems or fear of having to find a few hundred quid to replace the graphics card, but when I play Sim City I hear the fans spin up and soon enough I start to see glitches.
No doubt EA will blame my hardware.
PS: My game has actually never crashed, but it's not behaving normally and I'm starting to worry about playing it for fear of frying my card. Similar thing happened to me when Starcraft II was first released and people moaned about the menu screen not capping framerates and it fried my 8800GTX.
- Anonymous13 years agoDon't worry. Temps over 70 are not bad temps. I get 60-75. It is 95 and above when you want to worry. I am a person who always wants to fix things but I have tried everything and nothing works. Can't trust event viewer cause it is different reasons every time. AMD told me it must be how the game was created and passed all the blame on maxis. I just don't understand cause there are people with AMD without this issue. I have a ticket open with them and I submitted this on their "submit a bug" form just in case. Oh and STILL no word from ea when I contacted them about this issue. They are either fixing or ignoring. Either way I'm fed up with it but there's nothing we can do.

There's a patch and no patch notes? Weird, I doubt they will fix it anytime soon and keep blaming our drivers, reminds me of how politicians work.
