I have a 7970 and played with 13.1 and 13.3 drivers.
I've been playing Sleeping Dogs, Starcraft II, Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 on a 120hz monitor with fps in excess of 60fps.
This game is causing the GPU to hit temps over 70 degrees and causes artifacts (i.e. black flashing squares) intermittently, even when the graphics settings are set to medium and the fps is capped to 60.
I'm quite able to play any other games without problems or fear of having to find a few hundred quid to replace the graphics card, but when I play Sim City I hear the fans spin up and soon enough I start to see glitches.
No doubt EA will blame my hardware.
PS: My game has actually never crashed, but it's not behaving normally and I'm starting to worry about playing it for fear of frying my card. Similar thing happened to me when Starcraft II was first released and people moaned about the menu screen not capping framerates and it fried my 8800GTX.

The new "patch" didn't solve it!

I doubt they even know it is a problem because it doesn't happen to EVERYONE. It happens to enough people for it to be a problem and not somebody specific but not enough for them to care.
