This has happened to me occasionally with a single challenge, if I get the black screen glitch at the point of completing it.
I've never seen it happen with multiple challenges, though. Are you playing at the hour when the challenges reset? If so, that could possibly cause what you're referring to? What hours are you playing when this happens and what timezone are you in?
