Feature Suggestion: Challenge Filters

TL;DR:
The map is overwhelming due to the number of challenge icons. This is a simple concept that introduces an optional "Challenge Filter", allowing players to reduce clutter. The concept uses existing UI patterns.

Description:
As you progress, the challenges across Crew, City, Seasonal & Own The Lot, cause the map to become extremely cluttered.

This concept explores a lightweight filter that allows players to control which challenge icons appear on the map. It uses existing UI patterns currently present in-game.

How it works:

  • Selecting "Challenge Filters" will open a menu similar to Activity Timers.
  • Toggling a challenge immediately updates the map.
  • Inactive challenges are visually greyed out. Optional: Provide Helper/State Text. (ie; TOGGLED OFF)
  • Nothing is removed, disabled, or altered. Only hidden from the map.

Below is a quick Mock-Up animation showcasing the concept.

Note: There are multiple approaches to this concept, so I made several layouts to explore different options, see "Mock-Up 1", "Mock-Up 2", "Mock-Up 3", & "Mock-Up 4".

Why it's useful:

  • Reduces map clutter
  • Makes navigation easier
  • Gives players control over what they want to focus on
  • Doesn't affect challenge availability, progression or rewards
Mock-Up 1: Filtered by Source
Pro:
- Simple and clean menu (4 Rows)
Con:
- Less control over specific challenges

Challenges are filtered by their source. Crew, City, Seasonal & Own The Lot.

Each challenge can be toggled individually. Crew: Session, Line, Stunt, Own The Spot, City: Session, Line, Stunt, Own The Spot, Seasonal: Session, Line, Stunt, Own The Spot & Own The Lot.

  • Notes:

    1. The "TOGGLED OFF" helper text was included for clarity. The greyed-out inactive state alone should be good enough
    2. "Toggle to View all Challenges" is a description placeholder. I know if all rows say the same sentence, the sentence shouldn't exist so I've put some alternatives below:
      • Toggle to View all Crew - Session Challenges
      • Toggle to View all City - Session Challenges
      • Toggle to View all Seasonal - Session Challenges
        or
      • Show or Hide Crew Challenge on the Map
      • Show or Hide City Challenge on the Map
      • Show or Hide Seasonal Challenge on the Map
  • Just want to say amazing work on this suggestion and I hope they implement it! Filtering is much needed for tasks and this looks great
