Push speed adjustments

Adding a slider/adjustment option for push speed would help flow and pacing for a lot of the skating in this game.

A lot of the time it’s hard to skate a park/plaza as intended; too fast, or I’m slower and even one push would put me in a speed faster than required to skate the spot.

The new Parry Point Park is a great example of where some speeds in between what we have now would help the area flow a lot better.

Push speed is already kinda variable, it depends on how long you hold the push button. Little tap will accelerate you much less than holding it down for half a second.

That said, it would be nice to have control over maximum acceleration from one push with a slider, similar to pumping settings.

I think this is more of a problem with spot design and should not have to be a slider (at least not for that). I mean it´s the games mechanics, stuff should be build around that.

Personally when i do 3 full pushes with one in between at the new park everthing seems to be hit the right way. As in using all of the obstacle. Thats also when everthing really goes together. The problem is that this is so **bleep** sluggish and boring that i always push more and then you immediatly notice the grinds getting kinda short and everything starting to get stressfull cause it´s too close. Especially in gullcrest i also notice that problem almost everywhere.

So personally i´m not sure that middle ground even exists. As much as i love the game and think it´s great. In terms of spot design and skatepark 101 on how to set the speed with obstacles and create a good flow/rhythm. I get the feeling they really don´t know what they´re doing (sorry). Though i still think it´s cool that is not just full speed almost everywhere like the old games, but that of course was a lot easier to control for the people creating it.

Also try to not ollie out of grinds if you do that. Some spots just don´t leave the time for that.

thank you for pointing this out and I've been meaning to make a post about this as well.

yes you can do the small pushes by tapping but I've always loved the aesthetic and act of pushing  between tricks, it looks realistic and for clips it fills in those dead zones vs just standing on your board in between obstacles in a line.

in season 1 it felt good and looked better, ,your character when doing hard pushes looked like he was really emphasizing the push to gain speed but with season 2 they removed that animation and with every season they increase the speed in every aspect not just push speed for example transition speed. cruising speed (takes longer to slow down), trick speed, we actually gain speed when doing tricks and that makes zero sense. landing speed, we often lose zero speed even landing even on flat and sometimes even gain speed which also makes zero sense..

when you add all those together as a realistic player I'm constantly trying to slow down because I'm going to fast.  if I want to go fast I should have to work for it but the game just gives it to me regardless.

  • I get the sentiment, it's annoying not being able to pick the exact speed, but I feel like this could have the unintended side effect of dissuading people from learning techs, developing problem-solving skills specific to this game and using precision inputs.

There is so much I have learned in this game because I have had to. I don't know exactly what you have in mind that you don't have the speed for, but maybe there is an elegant solution within the game's existing mechanics to do what you are trying to do, without adding a menu that will take you out of the game and solve the puzzle for you.

"dissuading people from learning techs, developing problem-solving skills specific to this game and using precision inputs. "  Is that not what makes game like these fun!?  learning and becoming skilled at a game though practice, problem solving and learning is not only what creates longevity in games as a whole and thats also Skateboarding at its core.  When a game hands you everything for free with all the hand holding mechanics you cant adjust it loses any sense of self accomplishment and that dopamine from finally clearing that stair set or large gap ect.  By making this game too easy full circle is removing enjoyment from the experience.

He's not saying he "doesn't have the speed for" X, he's saying he's getting too much speed and that is 100% a problem because I like I said before with every major update they are slowly increasing the speed in every aspect.
