A way to go from dx12 to dx11 outside of the game?

I was fiddling with the graphic settings in-game last night and hit the dx12 slider which tanked my game. As I tried to get back in I would get stuck at the first splash screen with Rey, Darth Maul, ...

    Okay, I fixed it by deletign the Star Wars BF2 folder(s) under users documents, then repairing the game.

The problem with that though is some people dont even have the bootoptions text file to edit. Is there a way to write your own or find it?
