Stop trying to merge online and offline challenges & events. Yes, they dropped the ball by not adding a complete offline mode, and you are totally right that there should be one. But let multiplayer community challenges/events be what they are.
If they add a bigger offline mode, that should come with its own challenges, as did the Arcade and Campaign modes. It would be nowhere near fair play to unlock everything by beating up the dumb AI, then go to multiplayer and try out the new gear on other players. It would also be funny to say that you took part in the community event - by playing alone against bots.
You realise you have 40+ days to complete the 50 kills/class event? Days. Don't tell me that it is so hard to play 10 hours of GA during more than a month, it is the only mode worth playing outside SA anyway. (Edit: but for this challenge, just play Blast, you can complete the whole thing in a day.)
I see what you are "fighting" for here, but don't make ridiculous points, the lack of offline content is a problem that the devs should be concerned about, but not being able to complete really simple challenges is a personal problem, not one caused by the game.

If you "fail to see" how unlocking multiplayer boosts offline - that you will later use against other players - is unfair, then I don't know how else I could rephrase it. But alright... Consider this: there was this whole uproar about the game being pay to win - that is, you unlock everything by paying, then use this stuff to destroy everyone online. Now, making everything unlockable in an offline mode would essentially mean the same, I'd complete every single challenge in a week by destroying some thousand useless bots, buff my favourite class to epic level with a fully upgraded weapon, and destroy you in multiplayer all the same. But I am really tired of typing this again and again. Your complaint that singleplayer content should have been added to the game is totally valid. But merging challenges and unlockables is just simply a bad idea. Of course you should have access to everything offline, but keep that stuff there.

I will agree with @felker_s once again and say that MERGING the challenges really isn't fair to the online players. The online arena is harder, the rewards should reflect that. I will say that there should be more rewards for the offline content, not to mention MORE offline content (GA anyone?). @KulasDevorn I usually hate online MP content as well. I was irate when I got BattleFront 1 and realized there was no campaign (my fault). I played about two hours and didn't touch it again. Only reason I bough BF2 was for the campaign. I was again irate when I found out you really couldn't advance your character all that much unless you leveled your character with battle points, meaning YOU HAVE TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER! I focused primarily on SA since it's the only way you can play starfighters. After a while, I got better, at least good enough that I didn't feel like cannon fodder. First (and still only) online MP that I have grown to enjoy. Started playing some of the other MP versions and found that you can get ridiculous amounts (comparatively) of battle points from HvV. Only eight players so you have an awesome shot at top 5 (especially with AFK farmers) and all the extra points that come with it. After leveling up a few times in quick fashion, I figured I would give GA a shot, especially since I had more confidence in my "ground game" from playing HvV. Rude awakening, I still sucked. The hero skills do not translate all that well to the trooper grind. So I decided I had to improve my trooper game, best way to do that is through blast. In relatively short order I felt better about my game (still a bit of cannon fodder TBH, but at least fun now). The interesting thing about this route, for me at least, is that all of the TLJ challenges just started being completed because I was focusing on something else but making progress there as well. I do put a little effort in to the daily challenges now but they aren't a grind, they are a reward for doing something I was going to do anyway.
No one can make you like MP but if you view it as a means to an end, it really isn't that bad. Think of it like a poorly designed campaign level where the boss is just WAY too OP so you have to keep playing again and again to learn all the little tricks. Eventually one day it just clicks and that OP boss is suddenly under your boot.
- Anonymous8 years agoThe Division handled this online/offline skill difference by creating two ranks. One multiplayer, and a separate one offline. I thought it was a pretty simple but elegant solution that would fit nicely into the game.
- 8 years agoAnd I still fail to see how earning things offline against bots it going to somehow make me destroy people in multiplayer. It wont do anything but give me a few abilities and things that half the other players already have or unlocked online, because they are more skilled than me. I would just happen to be able to unlock them offline with bots, it it were added. No harm, no foul.I'll give yo an example:I have a few abilities up to purple on a class, but I still have rounds where I barely get any kills and just die a lot. So, you tell me how I have some kind of advantage is making me "destroy everyone online"? It's not.If it were somehow having me "destroy everyone online" then I would be getting Hero's and in top tier every match right? RIGHT? Well, it doesn't happen, I rarely EVER get my name on the screen in the end roster. The only class I can do half way decent with and get more points with is the Officer. And, I don;t get to be a Hero very often either. You and other people don't see that NOT EVERYONE is as skilled as you or others, and we actually NEED to unlocks and things to be able to function fairly in a multiplayer setting. So, giving us the ability to earn them OFFLINE against bots would actually make us learn the game better and not get devastated by the skilled people who have everything unlocked. And, with your logic of not having things shared between offline or online: How is it fair that ANYONE get's an advantage over others simply by playing online and "earning" things? No one should get an advantage, the only un-lockables should be cosmetic. Period. The more skilled players already have an advantage, then they unlock more and "destroy everyone online", including me who has many things unlocked. We fundamentally disagree on this subject, but we are obviously very different players, and that is something DICE never takes into account with these games.

I never said that you will destroy anyone, I said that you will be destroyed all the same, and you'll find it even more unfair. Right now I mostly have rare-tier cards, with some epic ones here and there, but if I could gain the same amount of credits in even less time offline, I'd run around 100% epic with all of my troopers.
I'm sorry that you are not good at the game, but multiplayer is about skill, it always have been.
Here's an analogy for you: if you get your arse handed to you in some martial arts competition, or while playing chess, or... well bloody well anything, will you start complaining that it is not fair, the opponent was more skilled? Ugh...
This whole conversation just feels like a stalemate though, so you won't have to bother with my face again, I'm out. I don't even understand why the online-offline challenge merging is so important to you, since - if I understand correctly - you'd play offline anyway, if Dice gave you the chance.

I have all Purple Tier on my Officer, and that is the ONLY class I can earn 10,000+ points or get on the end roster in a game with. I can't do that on any other classes, even with Purple Tier unlocked on them, and NEVER with Hero or Villain...even with Purple Tier unlocked. I set on the Specialist and only get a few kills per game spending most my time dying. I have wasted DAYS and HOURS on the Specialist in order to unlock it's final weapon. It took me weeks to get 200 kills to unlock the final gun, yes that long. So, what you are saying is, had I been able to unlock that stuff offline against bots in much less time, it would somehow effect the entire game? No, it wouldn't. I am not going to do that well no matter how much I unlock on all but the Officer. Period. I certainly am not going to do well AT ALL in the Starfighter modes, I just die continually there.
Martial Arts and a form of entertainment (a video game) are VERY different things. Martial Arts is about discipline and learning. A Video Game is about relaxing, escaping, and fun. You cannot equate the two. I CAN complain about a video game, martial arts is not something you complain about because you want to learn and get better because it is about YOU and your life, not a freakin' video game.
I would play offline if the entire multiplayer experience was there, and it is not. But, if I was still not earning things or unlocking things I wouldn't want to do it much then.As it is now, with the new update, it added nothing for me. No offline against bots multiplayer, so pointless. The new Jetpack mode is just more competitive garbage. Right now I am done with the game because I frankly do not have fun with it much at all. All I have unlocked and earned was just one long frustrating, cheap, unfair, glitched fiasco spent with half the time dying and waiting for the counter to respawn me. I was literally frustrated within one match every time I liked in this game. Every single time. I tried, but unless I can play and earn things against bots, I will not get any real enjoyment out of this game.
